Golf Set for NCAA Regional in Michigan

Ann Arbor, M.I. – The Quinnipiac women's golf team is back in the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season and will compete in the Ann Arbor Regional at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The Bobcats will play 18 holes each day from Monday, May 11th, to Wednesday, May 13th.

MAAC CHAMPIONS, AGAIN
- The Quinnipiac women's golf program claimed its second straight MAAC title and seventh overall after shooting a tournament total of 885 (+21).
- Sophia Fujita became the first Bobcat to win the McLeod Trophy in back-to-back seasons and is the first women's golfer to do so since Katelyn Mannix (Siena), who did it in 2008 and 2009.
- Fujita set a new MAAC record with her three-round total of 212 (-4), breaking Fuge Zhang's record (214, -2) that was set at the 2023 MAAC Championships.
POSTSEASON AWARDS
- For the second season in a row, Sophia Fujita was named the MAAC Player of the Year after taking home the McLeod Trophy at the 2026 MAAC Championships. Fujita became the first Bobcat to win the awards in back-to-back seasons and was the first golfer to do it in the conference since 2008-2009.
- Coach John O'Connor was named the MAAC Coach of the Year for the second straight year and fifth time since the Bobcats joined the MAAC.
- A trio of Bobcats were named to the All-MAAC First Team, as announced by the conference on Monday, April 20th.
- Sophia Fujita and Samantha Galantini earned All-MAAC First Team honors for the second straight season, while Marisa Flores was named to the All-MAAC First Team for the first time.
- Eight Bobcats earned All-Academic status: Alexia Egdahl, Tekla Fine-Lease, Marisa Flores, Samantha Galantini, Amy Goddard, Vaidehi Shah, Natalie Spiska, and Sandhya Vaikuntam.
SPRING SEASON RECAP
- Quinnipiac competed in six tournaments in the spring, with its first tournament being the Columbia Classic down in Florida.
- The Bobcats closed out the Columbia Classic with a three-round total score of 932 (+68).
- Quinnipiac returned to play at the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford, finishing in 9th place
- After the Low Country Intercollegiate, Quinnipiac finished the Georgia State Invitational in 5th place out of 14 teams. The Bobcats finished with a three-round score of 896 (+32).
- QU followed up with a 3rd-place finish at the St. John's Invitational, shooting a 639 (+71) in the two-round tournament.
- At the Rutgers Invitational, Quinnipiac finished in seventh place in a competitive 16-team field. The Bobcats closed out play with a three-round total of 942 (+90).
- Quinnipiac closed out their Spring season at the Fairfield Tri-Match with a second-place finish among three teams.
FALL SEASON RECAP
- Quinnipiac competed in five tournaments in the fall and kicked off its season at the Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, Pa.
- After an 8th-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational, the Bobcats followed up with a first-place finish at the Lehigh Invitational. Sophia Fujita claimed the Individual crown, shooting a team-best 204 (-9).
- Half of the Quinnipiac squad competed at the SHU Fall Classic and finished the tournament in 5th place out of 15 teams.
- After the SHU Fall Invitational, the Bobcats hosted the Quinnipiac Classic and claimed the tournament crown after carding a two-round total of 608.
- Quinnipiac closed out its fall season with a 7th-place finish at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
2025 POSTSEASON RECAP
- The Quinnipiac women's golf team captured the 2025 MAAC Tournament crown as they finished first among eight teams.
- Quinnipiac finished with a three-round total of 883 (+19), finishing 13 strokes ahead of the runners-up, UAlbany.
- In her first year, Sophia Fujita was the individual champion, carding a three-day total of 217 (+1). Fujita shot a 68 (-4) in the opening round, setting a new MAAC Tournament single-round record.
- The Bobcats earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they competed in the Gold Canyon Regional in Arizona.
- The Bobcats finished 12th out of 12 teams and finished the tournament with a total score of 948. Marisa Flores finished as the highest finisher for Quinnipiac, finishing with a score of 236 (+20).
