Bobcats Senior Captain Just Second in Program History to Earn Honor from ECAC Hockey
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey senior captain Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, as announced by the league office on Friday, March 19.
Tufto is just the second Quinnipiac men's ice hockey player to be named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, joining Eric Hartzell '13 from the 2012-13 season. Tufto is the third Quinnipiac men's ice hockey player to win a league player of the year as Reid Cashman '07 was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year in 2005.
Earlier this week, Tufto was named to the All-ECAC Hockey First Team for the first time in his career. He is a four-time all-league honoree after being named to the All-Rookie Team as a first year in 2017-18 and back-to-back second team selections in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
He was a three-time ECAC Hockey Player of the Week in 2020-21, and also earned First Star of the Week honors from the league on Dec. 28. Tufto was recognized as the league's Player of the Month in January and February, and the Hockey Commissioners' Association National Player of the Month in December.

Tufto also ranks third in Division I program history, and seventh all-time in program history, with 165 points and is just five points from breaking the record of 169 held by Bryan Leitch '09 and Brian Herbert '03.
Tufto has had one of the best offensive seasons in program history with his 44 points, tied for the 13th most in a single-season in program history while his 38 assists are tied for the second-most.
He leads the nation with 38 assists and 1.41 assists per game, as well as 20 power-play assists and 22 power-play points. Tufto also ranks second in the nation with 44 points and a .631 faceoff percentage.
Tufto recorded a 12-game point streak earlier in the 2020-21 season from Dec. 19-Jan. 17, tied for the second-longest point streak in the nation with Wisconsin's Cole Caufield.
Tufto's 44 points and 1.63 points per game were tops in ECAC Hockey, as well as is 349 faceoff wins. He recorded points in 14 of 18 games against league opponents this season.
He has recorded three 40-point seasons in his Quinnipiac career, joining Cashman as the only Bobcats to do so in the program's Division I history.
