
Three Named to All-ECAC Hockey First Team

Tufto, Petruzzelli and Metsa All Named First Team for First Time in Careers
ALBANY, N.Y – The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team placed three players on All-ECAC Hockey First Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, March 17.
Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota), Zach Metsa (Delafield, Wisconsin) and Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) have been named to the ECAC Hockey First Team.
This is the first time in program history that Quinnipiac placed three players on the ECAC Hockey First Team, and first time the Bobcats have had three first team all-league players since the 1999-2000 season when Chris Cerrella '01, Anthony DiPalma '01 and Shawn Mansoff '01 as a part of MAAC Hockey.
Quinnipiac has now had 10 First Team All-ECAC Hockey picks in program history and 39 players named to All-ECAC Hockey Teams since the Bobcats joined the conference for the 2005-06 season.
Tufto was named to the All-ECAC Hockey First Team for the first time in his career and has now been recognized on an all-league team for four consecutive seasons. He earned ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team honors as a first year in 2017-18 followed by back-to-back Second Team selections in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Tufto leads ECAC Hockey in nearly every statistical category with his 38 assists, 44 points, 1.41 assists per game, 1.63 points per game, 20 power-play assists, 22 power-play points, 349 faceoff wins and a .631 faceoff win percentage. He also leads the nation in assists, assists per game, power-play assists, power-play points, and faceoff percentage while his points and points per game rank second.
Tufto recorded points in 14 of 18 ECAC Hockey games, recording a league-best 21 assists and 25 points against ECAC Hockey competition.
Petruzzelli's All-ECAC Hockey First Team selection is the first of his career after coming on to the scene as the starting goaltender in 2019-20 and has now made 57 consecutive starts between the pipes.
He leads all ECAC Hockey goaltenders with 17 wins, four shutouts, a 1.78 GAA, .929 save percentage and 612 shots as he started every game in 2020-21. Petruzzelli leads all goaltenders in conference only games with 10 wins and three shutouts.
Nationally, Petruzzelli is fourth with 17 wins and four shutouts, as well as sixth with a 1.78 GAA. He leads the nation with 27 starts and minutes played with 1581:04.
After a breakout season in 2019-20, Metsa has been even better as a junior as he earned his first All-ECAC Hockey First Team selection.
He has been one of the best defensemen in ECAC Hockey this season, leading the league with five goals, 20 assists, 25 points, 0.74 assists per game, 0.93 points per game, 11 power-play assists, and 14 power-play points.
Metsa is tied for the national lead among defensemen in points and has the sole lead with in assists, power-play assists and power-play points.
Within ECAC Hockey, Metsa was just as good in 18 league games with a league-best three goals, 11 assists, 14 points, 0.61 assists per game, 0.78 points per game, six power-play assists and eight power-play points.
Quinnipiac men's ice hockey returns to the ice on Saturday as the Bobcats chase their second Whitelaw Cup as hosts of the 2021 ECAC Hockey Championship Game against the winner of Thursday's semifinal between St. Lawrence and Colgate.
