Quinnipiac Earns Weekend Sweep over Hawks
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team took control of the game early on and used a strong defensive performance to take down the Monmouth Hawks, 53-38, on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats outscored the Hawks, 30-16, in the second half to seal the victory.
Junior guard Mackenzie DeWees led the Bobcats offensively, with 10 points. The Westminster, Md. native added seven rebounds and three steals in the win.
MAAC rebounding leader Mikala Morris had a strong day on the glass recording 12 rebounds and four blocks.
First-year guard Jillian Casey tallied her first career basket and recorded eight points off the bench to help the Bobcats to the sweep of the Hawks.

- Monmouth opened the game with two quick buckets, but Bobcats quickly came back to take a 5-point lead midway through the opening frame.
- The Bobcats closed the quarter with an 11-7 edge over the Hawks going into the second quarter.
- Quinnipiac began the second by scoring the first five points, en route to a 10-point advantage, before Monmouth notched a layup bringing the score to 19-11 in the second quarter.
- The Hawks pulled slightly closer with a buzzer-beater three before halftime, but the Bobcats maintained a 30-16 lead into the halftime break.
- The hosts started the third quarter on an 11-2 run, forcing Monmouth to call a timeout as the lead ballooned to 41-18 with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- Monmouth outscored Quinnipiac in the final quarter, but the Bobcats claimed the 15-point victory, 53-38.
- Quinnipiac's bench contributed with 21 points on the afternoon, including 14 combined from Casey and Tiera White.
