Bobcats Picked Sixth in Metro Preseason Poll

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team has been ranked 6th in the Metro Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced at the Metro Basketball Tip-off at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ, on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

The Bobcats received 103 points in the preseason coaches' poll. The Fairfield Stags were the unanimous favorites, receiving all 13 first-place votes and a total of 169 points. The Siena Saints were selected to finish second, while Sacred Heart, Iona, and Mount St. Mary's rounded out the top five.

Quinnipiac enters its first season under new head coach Roman Owen, who was signed by the University on April 7th. Owen has brought in eleven newcomers to the team, with Paige Girardi, Maria Kealy, and Ava Sollenne returning to Hamden for their senior seasons. Of the eleven newcomers, Coach Owen signed five first-years and six transfers.

QU announced the full 2025-26 schedule on Aug. 24th. The Bobcats' non-conference slate features eleven total games, including five home contests at the M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, four road contests, and two neutral site games. Of the eleven non-league opponents, four were selected to compete in last season's postseason tournaments, with one going to both the NCAA Tournament and the WBIT, and two battling in the WNIT.

The new season will begin on Monday, Nov. 3, as the Bobcats open the campaign at home against St. Joseph's University (LI).
