No. 8 Women's Ice Hockey to Host RPI, Union

HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team will return home this weekend for two ECAC Hockey games against RPI and Union. The Bobcats are coming off an ECAC Hockey weekend at Brown and Yale, recording two victories on the road. Puck drop is set for 6 and 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Last Time Out
Quinnipiac took on the Brown Bears in Providence, R.I., on Oct. 29, earning a 5-3 win. The Bobcats jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the first period with goals from senior Lexie Adzija, sophomores Maddy Samoskevich and Nina Steigauf and junior Kate Reilly. The Bears clawed their way back, scoring two goals of their own in the second period. Graduate student Taylor House scored a highlight-reel goal on the penalty kill to give Quinnipiac at 5-2 cushion. The Bears would add one more goal in the third period, but the Bobcats held on to win, 5-3.
On Saturday afternoon, Quinnipiac traveled down to their neighbors in New Haven to take on Yale. The Bobcats struck first on the power play late in the first period. Reilly scored her second goal of the weekend, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Yale tied it in the second period, but the Bobcats answered right back and scored four minutes later with a goal from Steigauf. With just about three minutes remaining in the third, juniors Alexa Hoskin and Sadie Peart raced off to a breakaway, and Hoskin scored the game-winner.
Scouting Union
The Dutchwomen will come to Hamden with a 2-8-1 overall record this season and a 0-4-0 conference record. Union has dropped its last four straight games against No. 9 Providence, Boston University, Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The Dutchwomen's two wins came against RIT at the beginning of the season.
Celeste Beaudoin leads the team with seven points on three goals and four assists. In the net for Union, Olivia Rinzel has played in nine games, recording a .883 save percentage and 3.07 goals against average. The Dutchwomen have tallied six power play goals this season and have allowed opponents 10.
All-Time vs the Dutchwomen
The Bobcats hold a 32-1-4 overall record against the Dutchwomen. The team's last win against Union came on Feb. 7, 2020 in a 6-2 win.
Scouting RPI
The RPI Engineers are 4-6 overall this season with a 2-2 conference record. The Engineers dropped its first four games of the season at Mercyhurst and Vermont, but bounced back and went on a four-game win streak, defeating Union twice, Boston University and No. 9 Providence. The Engineers opened conference play against St. Lawrence and Clarkson, dropping both games, 3-0 and 1-0, respectively.
In the net, Amanda Rampado has been honored by the conference this season, earning the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week award two times. She has played and started in all 10 games, recording a .942 save percentage and a 1.91 goals against average. Marah Wagner leads the team on offense with seven points on four goals and three assists. The Engineers have tallied four power play goals this season and have allowed two on 35 attempts.

The Bobcats are 21-13-2 all-time against the Engineers. Quinnipiac has won the last three games in a row. On Feb, 8, 2020, the Bobcats defeated RPI 5-1 at home.
Unbeaten Streak Stays Alive
The Bobcats are 8-0-2 this season, which is the best start for the program ever. In 2015-16, the team went 5-0-2 to start the season and eventually finished with a 30-3-5 record while also winning the ECAC Tournament Championships and appearing in the team's first ever NCAA Tournament game. The Bobcats also went 6-1 in 2016-17.
Human Highlight Reel
Graduate student Taylor House continues her stellar play and is on a four-game point streak. She netted a highlight-reel goal against Brown on the Bobcats' penalty kill, recording her third career short-handed goal. House has seven points this year on four goals and three assists.
Peart-Hoskin Pair
The two junior forwards have scored 25 points this season. Peart tallied two assists against Brown and Yale, while Hoskins scored the game-winner against the Bulldogs. Their on-ice rating is +8 and they both have tallied one power play goal, each.
Helper Helper
Junior Jess Schryver leads the team with 10 assists so far this season. She tallied two helpers against Brown in the 5-3 win. Schryver is averaging 1.00 assists per game, which is tied for seventh in the country.
Faceoff Queen
Senior Lexie Adzija has consistently been one of the best in the country in faceoff wins. She is ranked second in the nation behind Alexa Vasko (Mercyhurst) with 142 wins. She leads the country with a 69% faceoff winning percentage. In addition, Quinnipiac is leading the nation as a team for faceoff winning percentage (62%).
Scoring All Around
Twenty Bobcats have scored at least one point this season. Three first-years, Veronica Bac, Ann-Frederik Naud and Maya Labad, have all recorded at least one point, as well. Quinnipiac has recorded 108 team points, which is ranked fifth in the country behind Colgate, Wisconsin, Harvard and Ohio State. The Bobcats' 41 team goals rank fourth in the country.
Angers & Schroeder Standing Tall
Goaltenders Logan Angers and Corinne Schroeder continue to perform well between the pipes for the Bobcats. Schoeder's 0.788 goals against average is ranked second in the country. Both Angers and Schroeder have a .900 winning percentage, which is ranked in the top five in the nation.

Quinnipiac stayed in the No. 8 spot in both the USCHO poll the USA Hockey/USA Today Magazine College Hockey Poll.
Returners Ready
Quinnipiac will return 19 letter-winners from last season. Olivia Konigson, Renee Saltness and Taylor House all returned for a fifth-year season at Quinnipiac and are set to lead the group as true veterans. In the senior class, Lexie Adzija, Courtney Vorster, Logan Angers and Zoe Boyd are also set to lead the team as their fourth years as Bobcats begin.
First-Year Bobcats
The Bobcats will welcome six first years to the team and are excited to see their immediate impacts on the ice. Maya Labad (Montreal, Quebec) and Ann-Frédérik Naud (Montreal, Quebec) join the team with Hockey Canada experience and a dynamic duo mentality. The two Canadians have played hockey together since they were little and will look to bring their familiarity and cohesiveness to the ice on offense. Veronica Bac comes to Hamden from Huntley, Ill., and was a member of the Chicago mission team. Kate Helgeson is a forward hailing from Roseau High School in Roseau, Minn. Mallory Mauracher and Mia Lopata complete the first-year group, and come from Dublin, Ohio and Clinton, N.Y., respectively.
Two Transfers Join the Squad
Fifth-year graduate student Corinne Schroeder and junior Jessica Schryver transferred to Quinnipiac during the offseason. Schroeder joins the Bobcats after a decorated career at Boston University. With the Terries, Schroeder tallied a 1.98 goals against average and a .929 save percentage, which were both BU program records. She recorded eight shutouts through 91 career games played. She was named Hockey East Second Team All-Star (2019-20), Third Team All-Star (2018-19), All-Rookie Team, All-Academic Team, Goaltender of the Month (Oct. 2019, Dec. 2018) and Defensive Player of the Week (seven times) while playing for BU. Schryver comes to Hamden from Northeaster, who played in the National Championship game this past season. While playing for the Huskies, Schryver played in 35 games, recording six goals and 19 assists. She led all Northeastern first years with 19 assists in 2019-20.
Bobcats in the Net
Quinnipiac returns sophomore netminder Catie Boudiette and redshirt-junior Logan Angers to the team this year, in addition to adding Schroeder. Boudiette played in six games during her first-year campaign. She tallied a 1.000 save percentage, allowing no goals in her six games played. Angers played in 12 games, recording a .908 save percentage with a 2.44 goals against average.
Leadership Group
Olivia Konigson is set to lead the Bobcats as the captain for the second year in a row. Joining Konigson, Renee Saltness, Lexie Adzija and Zoe Boyd will all wear the As, as assistant captains.
Non-Conference Breakdown
The Bobcats will face five different non-conference teams this season – two from Hockey East, one from the WCHA and two from NEWHA. Maine will come to Hamden this weekend to kick-off non-conference place. Next weekend, Quinnipiac will host the LIU Sharks for two games. To continue play against the NEWHA conference, the Bobcats will host Saint Anselm, Oct. 8-9. Before beginning conference play, the Bobcats will play a home-and-home series with Providence, Oct 15-16. To begin the New Year, Quinnipiac will travel to Madison, Wisc., to play the Wisconsin Badgers. In addition, the Bobcats will also compete in the Nutmeg Classic, hosted by UConn.
Hockey Canada Summer
Quinnipiac had a great showing at Hockey Canada's 2021 BFL National Women's Development Team Summer Camp, July 29-Aug. 9. Lexie Adzija, Kendall Cooper, Ann- Frédérik Naud, Corinne Schroeder, Zoe Boyd and Zoe Uens (Class of 2022 signee) were all invited to attend the camp this past summer. In addition, head coach Cass Turner attended camp as the assistant coach for the Under-18 NextGen camp participants. Adzija and Cooper were then asked to stay at the camp longer to compete in two scrimmages against Canada's National Women's team on Aug. 7-9 ahead of the World Championships.
Alessi in Las Vegas
Assistant coach Amanda Alessi participated in a coaching clinic in August that was conducted by the Las Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL. Coaches from Northeaster, Princeton, Brown, BU, St. Thomas, Dartmouth and Quinnipiac all came together to put local players through a clinic. The theme of growing the game and the love of hockey around the country sparked the clinic, and Alessi was proud to represent Quinnipiac out in the desert.
Brent Hill Joins the Coaching Staff
Quinnipiac hired Brent Hill as a new assistant coach in May 2021. Hill comes to Quinnipiac with an extensive resume in coaching and was most recently the program director and head coach of Selects Academy (U16 & U19) in Rochester, N.Y. As a head coach, Hill posted an overall record of 173-51 and was responsible for scheduling, practice planning, game management, scheduling, and travel logistics. He also coached at Merrimack in 2013-2017 and RPI from 2009-2013.
