Quinnipiac Scores Final 11 Points to Seal the Win
JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team won their second straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game, as they defeated Saint Peter's, 55-40, on Saturday afternoon. Saint Peter's cut the Bobcat lead to 44-40 in the fourth quarter, but Quinnipiac scored the final 11 points of the game to seal the victory.
Sophomore forward Mikala Morris recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. The Springfield, Ohio native beat her previous career high of 17 rebounds, which she set earlier this season against Manhattan.
Junior guard Mackenzie DeWees continued her strong season as she recorded 13 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

- Quinnipiac went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter to take an early 12-4 lead.
- The Bobcats closed out the first quarter on top, 16-10.
- Quinnipiac continued its strong play in the second frame, building its lead to 10 with four minutes left until halftime.
- The Peacocks went on a 6-0 run to cut the Bobcat lead to four with just under 30 seconds remaining in the half.
- Three points before the end of the half gave the Bobcats a 27-20 lead going into halftime.
- The Bobcats maintained their multiple possession lead throughout the third quarter, taking a 42-33 lead into the final quarter.
- A Mikala Morris layup at the beginning of the fourth gave the Bobcats an 11-point lead.
- The Peacocks immediately answered back with a 7-0 run, cutting their deficit to 44-40 with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
- That was the closest the Peacocks would get as Quinnipiac scored the final 11 points of the game to seal its 55-40 victory.
- The Bobcats played with the lead for 37:17, compared to just 16 seconds for the Peacocks.
- Quinnipiac shot 40 percent from the field, its second-best percentage of the season.
- Mikala Morris is now averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. She is one of only three players in the MAAC to be averaging double-figures in rebounds.
- Mackenzie DeWees is averaging 8.9 rebounds per contest. Quinnipiac is the only team in the conference two have two players (DeWees and Morris) in the top-five in rebounding.
- Saint Peter's came into the game as the best statistical rebounding team in the conference. Quinnipiac won the battle on the boards, 48-45.
- The Bobcats complete their two-game road series with Saint Peter's tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 9). Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
