Quinnipiac Welcomes Marist Back to Hamden Tomorrow to Finish Homestand

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team dropped its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference home opener to Marist, 69-50, on Sunday afternoon at the People's United Center.

The Bobcats were led offensively by junior guard Mackenzie DeWees with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting. The Westminster, Md. native was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

GAME SUMMARY

Quinnipiac scored the first two points of the game, but Marist answered with a 6-0 run to take an early lead.
The Red Foxes got out to a nine point lead with just under one minute remaining in the quarter and took a 16-9 lead into the second frame.
Marist began the second on an extended 12-3 run that lasted just under five minutes to take a 28-12 lead.
The Bobcats outscored Marist, 7-4, over the final two minutes of the quarter to go into halftime trailing 32-19.
Quinnipiac cut the Marist lead to seven halfway through the third, but Marist took back control of the game and led 48-34 at the end of the three.
Marist continued their strong play in the fourth to win the game, 69-50.

NUMBERS AND NOTES

Quinnipiac shot 17-for-20 from the free throw line. Their 17 made free throws is tied for the most made in a game this season.
The Bobcats bench outscored the Red Foxes bench, 13-7.
Rose Caverly grabbed a season-high seven rebounds in the loss.
