Quinnipiac Wins Fourth Straight

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team earned a wire-to-wire victory over the Rider Broncs, 72-50, on Friday afternoon in New Jersey. The Bobcats led the game for 39:31, while Rider did not lead at all.

Three different Bobcats scored in double-figures, led by sophomore forward Mikala Morris. The Springfield, Ohio native scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She is one of 50 players in the country to record at least five double-doubles this season.

Junior guard Amani Free grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in the victory. The Syracuse, N.Y. native added eight points for the Bobcats. Redshirt senior guard Vanessa Udoji recorded season-highs in points and rebounds. Udoji finished the game with six points and four rebounds.

GAME SUMMARY

The Bobcats scored the first six points of the game before Rider knocked down a three with just under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Quinnipiac opened up a 16-5 lead with 4:30 remaining in the first frame.
A Mikala Morris three closed out the first quarter, giving the Bobcats a 21-14 lead going into the second.
The Bobcats continued their trend of strong second quarters, outscoring the Broncs, 20-7 in the quarter, giving them a 41-21 advantage.
Rider cut its deficit to 11 with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Quinnipiac outscored Rider by five over the remaining five minutes of the frame to take a 54-38 lead into the fourth.
The Bobcats finished the game strong, winning the final quarter, 18-12, to win the first game of the weekend, 72-50.

Quinnipiac outrebounded Rider, 49-35, which is the largest rebounding margin for the Bobcats this season.
The Bobcats especially had an advantage on the offensive boards, winning that battle, 22-10.
