Bobcats Drop OT Heartbreaker to Broncs
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Junior Amani Free tallied a career-high 25 points to lead all scorers, but the Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to Rider, 77-74, in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
Mackenzie DeWees and Mikala Morris both scored in double figures for the Bobcats, as Morris recorded her league-leading sixth double-double in the loss.
Quinnipiac had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Rose Caverly's jumper spun out at the buzzer and the game remained tied.

- Morris and Free combined for Quinnipiac's first 10 points to open the game, but Rider kept the Bobcats off the board for nearly five minutes in the first quarter and jumped out to a 22-16 edge at the end of the frame.
- The Broncs stretched the lead to eight in the second quarter holding the Bobcats to just 13 points in the period. Rider had 12 assists on 14 field goals in the first half, compared to just five helpers for Quinnipiac.
- DeWees and Free scored nine of the first 10 points of the third quarter to give the Bobcats a 38-37 advantage with just over 15 minutes left in regulation.
- Chiara Bacchini scored the next four points, extending the Quinnipiac lead to five, but Rider finished the frame on a 13-6 run to regain the lead at the game's final break.
- After taking the lead at the 7:54 mark of the fourth quarter, Quinnipiac would not trail for the remainder of regulation. The Bobcats led by four after a Morris layup with 1:37 to play.
- Rider's Victoria Toomey hit a jumper at 1:13, followed by two game-tying free throws by Raphaela Toussaint with 23 seconds left.
- The Bobcats called timeout to advance the ball, setting up Caverly's attempt at the game-winner, but the junior was unable to convert.
- Neither team led by more than two in overtime until Toussaint hit a three to push Rider's lead to five points with 14 seconds left.
- Caverly hit a three with seven seconds to play, but missed a game-tying try at the buzzer to end the game.
- Quinnipiac out-rebounded Rider, 44-35, totaling 93 rebounds in the weekend split.
- The Bobcats committed just 12 turnovers, while forcing 18 from the Broncs.
- Quinnipiac dominated the paint, outscoring the hosts by a 34-22 margin.
- The Bobcats return home to host the Siena Saints on Saturday and Sunday, January 30 & 31.
