Second Member from Class of 2020 to Sign Professional Contract for Upcoming Season
FORMER QUINNIPIAC CAPTAIN NICK JERMAIN SIGNS WITH SWAMP RABBITS
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey captain Nick Jermain '20 has signed a professional contract with the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits, as announced by the organization on Monday, August 24.
Jermain is the second member of the Class of 2020 to sign a professional contract for the 2020-21 season after Alex Whelan '20 was signed by the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack after the conclusion of the 2019-20 season in March.
The Swamp Rabbits are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and AHL's Charlotte Checkers.
Jermain is coming off his best season in the blue and gold as he played in 34 games and set career-highs with 12 goals, nine assists and 21 points as well as three power-play goals and five game-winning goals. He ranked third on the team in goals and fourth in points, while his 12 goals was tied for 12th in ECAC Hockey this season.
Despite the postseason being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jermain closed out his career on a hot streak with points in three straight games and five of his final six. In his final game, Jermain scored the Bobcats' first goal against rival-Yale to kickstart a 5-0 shutout of the Bulldogs on Feb. 29.
Jermain had one of his best games of his career on Jan. 31 of this season as he tallied two goals and an assist in Quinnipiac's 5-0 shutout of No. 1 Cornell in front of a sellout crowd at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
The Bobcats' captain was also a standout in the classroom where he earned his fourth straight ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team selection following his collegiate career.
In his career for the Bobcats, Jermain totaled 26 goals and 25 assists for 51 points, and had at least five goals and 10 points in each of his final three seasons before his impressive final campaign.
Jermain is yet another Bobcat to sign a professional contract following their Quinnipiac career, making him the 20th player in the last five seasons to sign professionally in the United States.
He looks to make his professional debut when the ECHL kicks off its 72-game 2020-21 season on Dec. 4, 2020.
