U22 Camp Roster
CALGARY, Alba. - Four Quinnipiac women's ice hockey players have been invited to participate in the 2020 BFL National Women's Development Team Summer Camp. Rising juniors Lexie Adzija and Zoe Boyd, rising sophomore Kate Reilly and incoming first-year Kendall Cooper will participate in virtual meetings with over 100 of Canada's top young players.
Fifty players (eight goaltenders, 16 defensemen and 26 forwards) will meet virtually as the summer progresses to discuss topics like at-home strength and conditioning plans, mental performance plans and check-ins, nutrition, dry-land skills, skating simulations, team-building activities, short-term international competition preparation and meetings with coaches.
"This summer is a big chance for me to develop," Adzija said. "I truly believe that camp being a little different is actually very beneficial. It allows me to connect with the staff and senior team players I normally would only be able to connect with for a week or two for the whole summer. I'm super excited to learn more about the mental aspect of things, what it's like to be a pro and to learn and develop the whole summer!"
The virtual camp will help players develop on and off the ice while working with teammates in new environments. The players will also receive one-on-one time with Canada's National Women's Team leadership team throughout the summer.
"Under the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is absolutely amazing to have the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a player through the Hockey Canada Development Program," Boyd said. "The virtual camp is providing the ability to continue to develop mental skills, nutrition, strength and conditioning, and in addition, the chance to gain insight from Hockey Canada's staff and senior members. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue to better my game."
Incoming first-year Kendall Cooper most recently competed with and was the captain of Hockey Canada's U18 National Team that played in the Czech Republic in January.
"It is always an honor to represent my country and be able to achieve the goals and dreams I have," Cooper said. "To be selected for the U22 camp among many excellent players is very exciting and to have three of my future Bobcat teammates named to the camp is an awesome bonus!"
Cooper, Boyd and Reilly are three of the 16 defensemen that will attend the virtual camp. Boyd and Reilly were integral parts of the Bobcats' defensive core last season.
"I'm excited to learn as much as I can from the knowledgeable staff and my fellow athletes!" Reilly said.
