Anas Earns First Team Honors, Rafferty Named to Second Team and All-Rookie

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey stars Sam Anas was voted to the 2019-20 AHL First All-Star Team and Brogan Rafferty was voted to the Second All-Star Team, as announced by the American Hockey League (AHL) on May 20, 2020.
In addition to his Second Team All-Star selection, Rafferty was also named to the AHL All-Rookie Team for his outstanding first full professional season.
Anas and Rafferty are the first former Bobcats in program history to be named to the AHL All-Star teams, while Anas is the first to lead the AHL in scoring and Rafferty is also the first to be named to the AHL All-Rookie Team.
Anas, who had received the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the AHL's leading scorer earlier this offseason, was named to his first AHL Postseason All-Star Team in 2019-20. Anas tallied a career-high 70 points in 2019-20, scoring 20 goals alongside an AHL-leading 50 assists.
In four seasons with the Iowa Wild, Anas has tallied 72 goals and 125 assists for 197 points in 259 games. He is the franchise leader in numerous offensive categories, including points, after he broke the scoring record earlier in the 2019-20 season.
Rafferty had one of the finest rookie seasons in the AHL in 2019-20 as he was named to the AHL All-Star Classic in January before his Second Team All-Star and All-Rookie Team selections.
He ranked third among all AHL defensemen with 45 points and was tied for second with 38 assists. Rafferty scored seven goals this season and had a +17 plus/minus rating. With his 45 points, Rafferty set the Utica Comets' record for points by a rookie.
