Bobcats Win Fourth Straight MAAC Game
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Quinnipiac's defense held Monmouth to four points in the first quarter and a season-low 45 in the game as the Bobcats defeated the Hawks, 52-45, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Basketball action on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Paige Warfel led the Bobcats in scoring with 13 points, while sophomore Mackenzie DeWees chipped in with 12. Five other Bobcats scored in what was Quinnipiac's seventh win in its last eight games.

- The Quinnipiac defense set the tone for the Bobcats in the first quarter, allowing Monmouth to score just for points. The Hawks committed 11 turnovers in the quarter and shot just 18.2 percent (2-11) from the field.
- The Bobcats opened the game on an 8-0 run and shot 43.8 percent (7-16) from the floor.
- The second quarter featured slightly more scoring, but the Bobcats still limited Monmouth to just four made field goals.
- Quinnipiac extended its lead to 14 points at the half, thanks to 44 percent shooting and just one turnover.
- Both teams traded baskets for most of the third quarter, before beginning an extended scoring drought with just under 2:30 on the clock.
- Neither team scored for the final 2:04 of the third quarter and Quinnipiac did not record a point until the 5:00 mark of the fourth.
- Jaden Ward's basket with 5:00 minutes left put the Bobcats back ahead by nine, before the team made seven free throws down the stretch to close the game out.
- Warfel has scored in double figures in three of her last four games and has recorded at least seven rebounds in all but one game this season.
- DeWees' scoring spurt continued in this game, as the sophomore has now tallied at least eight points in each of her last 12 contests.
- After scoring four points in four games last month, Ward has now scored 26 points in her last three efforts.
- The Bobcats forced 18 Monmouth turnovers and scored 20 points off of those errors.
- Quinnipiac recorded eight blocks in the game, the team's most in a game since blocking 10 shots on January 11, 2018 against Marist. Cur'Tiera Haywood had four blocks, the most of any Bobcat this season.
- Monmouth's 45 points scored were the least allowed by the Bobcats this season. The Bobcats have not allowed more than 46 points to Monmouth since February 25, 2018.
- The Bobcats return home for the first time since January 25 as the Siena Saints visit Hamden on Saturday, February 6. Quinnipiac and Siena will tip at 4:00 on National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the People's United Center.
