Bobcats Goaltender Records Shutout vs. No. 1 Cornell, Allows One Goal on Weekend
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey junior goaltender Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, February 3.
Petruzzelli's goaltender of the week honors are his second of the season and second of his career after he earned the award on November 18.
This past weekend Petruzzelli had one of the best weekends of his career as he posted a shutout against No. 1 Cornell Friday night before making 30 saves in a 2-1 win over Colgate to complete the weekend sweep.
He finished the weekend with the third-best save percentage in the nation at .981 while his 0.50 GAA was tied for the second best in the nation. Petruzzelli was one of seven goalies in the nation to record a shutout and one of four in ECAC Hockey.
The Bobcats shutout of No. 1 Cornell was its second straight season shutting out the top-ranked team in the nation as they shutout UMass last season. Quinnipiac followed up its shutout with a 2-1 win over Colgate to win 10 of their last 12 games and climb to No. 14 in the Pairwise rankings.
Quinnipiac returns to the ice this weekend as it travels to Yale Friday night to face the Bulldogs at Ingalls Rink with puck drop set for 7 p.m. before hitting I-95 to face the Brown Bears at Meehan Auditorium Saturday night at 7 p.m.
