Warfel Sets New Rebounding Career-High in Loss to Marist

Senior Forward Finishes with 18 Boards
HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior forward Paige Warfel recorded a career-high 18 rebounds, but the Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to Marist by a score of 64-51 on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Mackenzie DeWees led the Bobcats in scoring with 11 points. DeWees added six rebounds and four assists to her team-high points total.

- Senior Jaden Ward opened the scoring with a jumper in the game's opening minute, sparking an opening 7-2 run for the Bobcats to start the game.
- Marist hit two three-pointers in the quarter to respond with a 13-7 string that gave the Red Foxes a one-point edge at the end of the quarter.
- DeWees gave the Bobcats the lead back with a layup to open the second quarter, but Marist answered with 11 of the next 12 points to open up a 26-17 lead at the 5:12 mark of the half.
- Overall, the Red Foxes outscored the Bobcats 21-11 in the second quarter to take control of the game.
- A Willow Duffel layup with 5:41 to play in the third quarter raised the Marist lead to 19 points, but Quinnipiac held Marist off the board for the next 5:21 and cut the lead to eight points.
- Sajada Bonner had five points in the run, while Paige Warfel had a bucket and an assist to help shrink the margin. Marist's Grace Vander Weide stopped the run with a three-pointer with seven seconds left.
- Quinnipiac pulled back with seven points in the fourth quarter, but was unable to draw closer for the remainder of the game.
- Eight Bobcats scored in the game, while only six Red Foxes found their way to the scoresheet.
- Marist shot 41.2 percent from the floor and hit eight three-pointers. The Bobcats were only able to post a 29.5 percent rate from the field with just four three-pointers.
- The Bobcats were outrebounded, 43-37, by Marist and only had eight assists compared to Marist's 16.
- The Bobcats head out to upstate New York next week to take on Niagara and Canisius in the final regular season weekend of the season. The MAAC Tournament will follow in Atlantic City the following week.
