Fairfield Uses Three-Ball to Spark Win
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A 23-point third quarter by Fairfield was too much for Quinnipiac to overcome in Saturday's 72-60 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference loss.

- The Stags led by as many as seven points in the first quarter, but the Bobcats ended the period on an 8-4 run to cut the margin to three at the break.
- Quinnipiac was held off the scoreboard for the first 5:22 of the second quarter and did not make a field goal until Warfel made a three-pointer with 3:22 on the clock.
- Despite the scoring troubles, a Cur'Tiera Haywood layup on the final possession kept the Fairfield lead at eight points at the halftime intermission.
- Fairfield opened up the game in the third quarter, scoring 23 points and going up by as many as 16 points in the frame.
- The Stags used an 11-0 run in the middle of the period turn a five-point lead into 16.
- Quinnipiac scored six of the first eight points in the fourth quarter to trim the margin to 10, (55-45), but the Bobcats would only get as close as nine over the remaining 5:27 of regulation as Fairfield closed out the win.
- Edwards returned to double figures for the first time in three games. The junior also added two rebounds and three assists.
- Mikala Morris recorded 13 points in the loss, marking the rookie's third-straight game with 10+ points and sixth in seven outings. The Ohio native pulled down seven rebounds in the effort, her most since having 10 on January 16 at Monmouth.
- Mackenzie DeWees chipped in with 12 points and seven more rebounds. The guard has recorded at least seven rebounds in seven games this season.
- Fairfield knocked down 10 three-pointers, the most by a Quinnipiac opponent since January 18 when Canisius hit 10 in a Quinnipiac win.
- The Bobcats dominated the paint, outscoring the Stags 30-18 on the afternoon.
- The Bobcats will remain in the Nutmeg State to play the final two home games of the season next week. Saint Peter's visits the People's United Center on Thursday evening, while Marist comes to Hamden on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are available at gobobcats.com/tickets.
