Seniors Combine to Score 35 Points in Win
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Shaq Edwards, Taylor Herd, and Jaden Ward all scored in double figures to pace the Quinnipiac women's basketball team to a 67-63 road win at Iona on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats improve to 7-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play and have now won six of their last seven league contests.

- The first quarter was a defensive struggle as neither team reached the 15-point mark in the period,
- A three-point basket by Edwards beat the buzzer to put the Bobcats ahead 13-12 at the end of the quarter.
- With an 18-15 lead in the opening stages of the second quarter, the Bobcats struck for their largest run of the game. The visitors opened up a 12-point lead, thanks to a 13-4 run over a four-minute span.
- Quinnipiac's three seniors, Ward, Herd, and Paige Warfel combined for 11 of the 13 points in the run.
- The lead grew to 13 after Mackenzie DeWees' jumper opened the third quarter, but Iona would respond with a game-changing run of its own.
- The Gaels scored eight-straight points and 18 of 20 to go up by as many as three points, but a Haywood layup and a buzzer-beater three from Herd sent the Bobcats into the fourth quarter with a 42-40 lead.
- The fourth quarter was a fast-paced battle where the margin was within five points for much of the frame.
- After a Morgan Barefield triple put Iona up by four with 6:16 to play, the Bobcats rattled off an 8-1 run to take a 55-52 lead after an Edwards three.
- The lead stretched to seven with 57 seconds to play after three Warfel free throws and another three-pointer from Edwards.
- Iona did not go away however, as Juana Camilion made a layup, Herd committed a turnover, and Tori Lesko hit her own layup to make it a 61-58 game.
- After Mackenzie DeWees hit two free throws, Camilion knocked down a three and Lesko followed with a layup to tie the game at 63.
- With the game tied, Camilion committed her fifth foul and sent Edwards to the line where she made both free throws.
- Lesko missed two shots in the final 20 seconds and Paige Warfel earned a huge rebound to seal the four-point win.
- Herd led the Bobcats offensively with a 17-point performance. The senior knocked down three three-pointers in the win to complete a 39-point weekend.
- Edwards found her footing offensively in the second half, finishing with 16 points and three triples. The junior also dished out seven assists while committing just one turnover in the game.
- Ward had her best outing of the season, tallying a season-high 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
- DeWees and Warfel finished with identical stat lines of eight points, seven boards, two assists, and three steals.
- The Bobcats forced 23 Iona turnovers, while committing just 10 of their own. They turned that into a 28-8 advantage in points off of turnovers.
- Despite being outrebounded, 41-38, the Bobcats earned 18 offensive boards to just eight for Iona.
- Quinnipiac pushed the pace all game, outscoring Iona 14-2 on the fastbreak and earning 13 steals in the effort.
- Edwards, Haywood, Warfel, and DeWees finished with 3 steals each.
- The Bobcats will play the final game of this three-game road swing on Thursday afternoon as they travel to Monmouth to face the Hawks in an 11:30 contest.
