23-7 Second Half Run Sparks Victory for Quinnipiac
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team overcame a 13-point second half deficit to defeat the Fordham Rams, 62-58 on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore forward Mikala Morris led the Bobcats with her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Springfield, Ohio native shot an efficient 7-for-8 from the free throw line.

- A back-and-forth first quarter saw the Bobcats take a 12-11 at the end of the first frame.
- The Rams began the second quarter on an 8-2 run, to take a 19-14 lead at the six minute mark of the quarter.
- The two teams came to a 21-all deadlock halfway through the second quarter, but the Rams entered halftime on a 15-5 run, giving them a 34-26 lead.
- Fordham extended their lead to 13 after two free throws, but the Bobcats came charging back, taking a 42-41 lead thanks to a 14-0 run that lasted just over four minutes.
- The two teams entered the fourth quarter all tied up at 47.
- Quinnipiac never trailed in the fourth quarter after scoring the first four points of the final frame.
- The two teams battled in a one possession game right to the very end, but two Mikala Morris free throws sealed the game for the Bobcats.
NUMBERS AND NOTES
- First-year forward Tiera White scored the first points of her Bobcat career, tallying five points in the win.
- The Bobcats forced 19 Fordham turnovers in the win, scoring 16 points off those turnovers.
- Quinnipiac won the battle at the free throw line, making 16 compared to Fordham's 11.
- The Bobcats tallied assists on 12 of their 21 made field goals.
- DeWees became the third Quinnipiac player since 2011 to record 30 or more rebounds in the first three games of a season. She joins Paige Warfel and Brittany McQuain on that list.
- The Bobcats return to action next Saturday, Dec. 12 as they take on Army West Point at the People's United Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
