
Morris' Career Night Paces Bobcats in Win Over Manhattan

Sophomore Forward Records New Career High in Points, Matches Career High in Rebounds
RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team avenged Friday's night's defeat, as they downed the Manhattan Jaspers, 61-50, on Saturday evening.
The second quarter proved to be the turning point for the Bobcats as they outscored Manhattan, 13-5, after entering the frame down, 18-13.
Quinnipiac was led by another outstanding performance from sophomore forward Mikala Morris. The Springfield, Ohio native had a career night as she set a new career high in points with 25 and matched her career high in rebounds with 17, which she recorded last season against the Jaspers. This was Morris' third double-double of the season, and the second consecutive game that she recorded one.
Amani Free continued her strong start to her junior season as she added 10 points and three rebounds for the Bobcats in the win.

- Manhattan led the first quarter from start to finish as the Jaspers took an 18-13 lead into the second quarter.
- Both teams started the second quarter slowly offensively, but Quinnipiac took their first lead of the contest, 21-20, with just over three minutes before halftime.
- The Bobcats held the Jaspers scoreless for just under seven minutes in the second, capitalizing on that to take a 26-23 lead going into halftime.
- After Manhattan scored the first three points of the third quarter, Quinnipiac went on a 7-0 run to take a 33-26 lead.
- The Bobcats extended their lead to 10 coming out of the media timeout, and the teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the frame as Quinnipiac had a 44-37 lead into the final stanza.
- Manhattan had a strong start to the fourth quarter, and eventually cut the Bobcat lead to two with just under three minutes left to play in regulation.
- Quinnipiac did not let the Jaspers get any closer than two as they closed out the game on a 10-1 run to win the game, 61-50.
NUMBERS AND NOTES
- The Bobcats held the Jaspers to 30 percent shooting from the floor, the lowest percentage a team has shot against Quinnipiac so far this season.
- Quinnipiac won the rebounding battle, 48-39. The Bobcats grabbed three more rebounds than the Jaspers on the offensive glass, and six more on the defensive end.
- The Bobcats once again edged the Jaspers in points off turnovers, 14-7.
- Quinnipiac made 11 of their 14 opportunities from the free throw line.
