
Volleyball Wins in 5 Sets at Knights Fall Classic

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team defeated NJIT in five sets on Friday afternoon. The victory was the second consecutive victory for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats won the first two sets of the match before NJIT would come back and win the next two. Kaleigh Oates led the way for the Bobcats with 16 kills and a .538 hitting percentage.

SET ONE
The Bobcats got out to a quick start to the set, causing NJIT to call an early timeout at 7-3. The Bobcats would never turn back. Olga Zampati came out of the timeout with two aces. Quinnipiac would get a total of three aces in the set en route to a 25-16 set win.
SET TWO
Quinnipiac would win four of the first five points of the set to take an early 4-1 lead. The Bobcats would never trail in the set, and would push the lead out to 14-6 before NJIT needed a timeout. The Bobcats would use their strong service and attack to win the set 25-12.
SET THREE
NJIT started the set with the lead, getting their lead out to 7-5. The Highlanders continued to build on their lead in the set, leading 13-7 midway through. Both teams would trade points throughout the remainder of the set. The Bobcats would win four consecutive points in an attempt to hang on in the set, but NJIT would take the set 25-17.
SET FOUR
Quinnipiac would jump out to a 4-1 lead in the set. NJIT would bounce back to tie the set at seven. NJIT would continue their run, forcing the Bobcats to call a timeout with NJIT leading 11-8. NJIT built on their lead, fighting off a four point Bobcat run in the middle of the set. The Highlanders would close out the set, winning 25-18.
SET FIVE
Both teams exchanged points until the Bobcats grabbed the lead 6-5. The Bobcats would go on a 4-0 to grab a 10-6 lead. The Bobcats would take control of the set after switching sides, and would close out the set winning 15-9.
