Bobcats Fall to Rider in MAAC Semifinals

Fairfield, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team's season came to an end on Saturday evening in the MAAC Semifinals as they were defeated by the Rider Broncs in four sets.
Quinnipiac got on the board first in the opening set and didn't look back, taking a 15-11 lead at the media timeout. The Bobcats and Broncs traded points out of the break, and Rider used a timeout with the Bobcats leading 18-14. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats used a 5-3 run to force the Broncs to use their final timeout of the opening set. Quinnipiac scored two straight points out of the timeout to take the first set, 25-17.
The Bobcats got on the board first to start the second set, but Rider responded to take a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. Out of the break, Quinnipiac went on a run of their own to knot the score at 21 as Rider called a timeout. After two quick points from Rider, Quinnipiac called their first timeout of the second set. After the Quinnipiac timeout, Rider put a close on the second set, winning the set 25-23.
Rider jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead as Quinnipiac called a timeout to calm things down. Quinnipiac responded with a 6-3 run to make it a 13-10 game. Quinnipiac came out of the Rider timeout and went on a 13-9 run to take their first lead of the set, 23-22. Rider would get the final three points of the set to go up two sets to one.
Rider continued their momentum into the fourth set as they led the Bobcats 15-10 at the media timeout. The Broncs continued to control much of the set, closing out the match on a 10-6 to advance to the MAAC Championship.

- Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 20 kills in the loss to the Rider Broncs. Giacomini earned MAAC All-Tournament honors with her performance in the semifinal match.
- Yagmur Gunes recorded 11 kills and 12 digs for her 15th double-double of the season.
- Damla Gunes led the Bobcats with 28 assists, while Klara Olszewska recorded 15 assists in the effort. Carola Negron Diaz added five assists, while Yagmur Gunes registered one assist.
- Gunes finished the season with 1,309 assists, which gives her 4,212 for her career.
- Carola Negron Diaz and Yagmur Gunes led the Bobcats with 12 digs each in the loss.
- Six different Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the match.
- Ten different Bobcats registered at least one dig in the match, while two Bobcats recorded 10+ digs.
- Asia Belli led the Bobcats with 2.5 total blocks in the loss.
