Bobcats Celebrate Seniors With Sweep of Rider

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team celebrated their graduating class in a big way as they swept the Rider Broncs on Saturday in Hamden. The Bobcats swept the weekend, defeating the Saint Peter's Peacocks and Rider Broncs in straight sets.
Rider got on the board first to start the match, but Quinnipiac turned it around as they led 14-11 as the Broncs called their first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats went on an 8-4 run to force the Broncs to use their final timeout of the opening set. After the Rider timeout, the Bobcats scored three of the next four points to close out the first set, 25-16.
The Broncs got on the board first again in the second set, but Quinnipiac answered as they forced Rider to use a timeout as they led 10-4. Out of the break, Quinnipiac continued to dominate as they went on an 8-2 run to break the set open, 18-6. Rider cut their deficit to seven as QU called their first timeout of the set. Quinnipiac responded out of the timeout as they closed the second set on a 6-1 run to win the second set, 25-13.
The third set was all Bobcats as they exploded to a 21-11 lead as Rider called their first timeout of the third set. Rider would cut down on the deficit, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats finished off the sweep with a 25-16 win in the third set to close out senior day.

- Ginevra Giovagnoni paced the Bobcats with 10 kills in the win. Giovagnoni earned double-digit kills for the fifth straight match.
- Elena Giacomini was second on the team with nine kills. Giacomini led the team with three service aces in the sweep.
- Yagmur Gunes picked up seven kills in the win. Gunes also recorded two service aces, which tied for second on the team.
- Tuana Turhan got her first start of the season and recorded two kills, 1.5 total blocks, one dig, and one ace.
- Gunes led the Bobcats with 24 assists, while four other Bobcats recorded at least one assist. Carola Negron Diaz and Klara Olszewska were tied for second on the team with three assists each.
- Nine different Bobcats recorded a kill in the match, the most in a single match this season.
- Eight different Bobcats registered at least one dig in the sweep over the Broncs.
- Milena Silva led the Bobcats with 2.0 total blocks.
- The Bobcats stretched their win streak to eleven straight matches.
- With the win, the Bobcats improved to 14-2 in conference play and 17-11 overall.
