Bobcats Roar Back to Down Purple Eagles

Niagara University, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team bounced back after dropping the first set to defeat the Niagara Purple Eagles in four sets on Friday night to extend their win streak to 12.
Both sides traded points to open the match, but Quinnipiac held a 15-13 advantage at the first media timeout. The set stayed the same way, with both the Bobcats and Purple Eagles recording points, but Quinnipiac led 20-18 as Niagara called a timeout. Out of their timeout, the Purple Eagles scored three of the next five points to cut their deficit to one. After Kyle Robinson called a timeout, Niagara closed out the set on a 7-4 run to win the first set, 28-26.
The Bobcats jumped out to a quick lead as they led 11-5 as Niagara called their first timeout of the set. Niagara responded with an 8-5 run to make it just a three-point game as Quinnipiac used a timeout of their own. After Niagara cut the deficit to two, they used their final timeout of the second set. Out of the break, the Purple Eagles went on a 7-4 run before the Bobcats scored the final four points to take the second set, 25-22.
The third set started the same way for the Bobcats as they took an early 9-3 lead to force the Purple Eagles to use an early timeout. Quinnipiac continued to maintain control of the set as they took a 17-10 lead as Niagara used their final timeout of the set. The Bobcats were able to close out the third set with an 8-5 run to win the third set, 25-15.
Once again, the Bobcats jumped out to an early advantage as they led 7-2 to force Niagara to call an early timeout. Niagara responded with a 6-4 run to cut the deficit to three as Quinnipiac called a timeout of their own. Out of their timeout, QU went on an 8-3 run to give themselves a 19-11 lead in the fourth set. After Niagara used its final timeout, the Purple Eagles made it a 21-17 game as the final timeout was called in the set by the Bobcats. Quinnipiac got the final points they needed to close out the match with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

- Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with 17 kills in the win, the most she has recorded in a match this season. Giovagnoni reached the double-digit kill threshold for the sixth straight match.
- Giovagnoni recorded 23 digs, which was second on the team, as she recorded her fourth double-double of the season.
- Elena Giacomini also reached double digits in kills as she registered 15 in the win. Giacomini has recorded 10+ kills in 27 matches this season, which is all but two.
- Giacomini also registered double-digit digs (14) for her 17th double-double of the season.
- Yagmur Gunes picked up 13 kills and 12 digs as she was the third Bobcat to record a double-double in the win. Gunes recorded her 14th double-double of the season.

- Gunes also recorded 16 digs as she recorded her 13th double-double of the season.

- Carola Negron Diaz picked up seven assists in the win, giving her 114 on the season.
- Negron Diaz led the Bobcats with 26 digs in the four-set win over Niagara.
- Six different Bobcats recorded at least one kill in the match.
- Eight different Bobcats registered at least one dig in the match, while five Bobcats recorded 10+ digs.
- Milena Silva and Asia Belli led the Bobcats with 1.5 total blocks.
- The Bobcats stretched their win streak to twelve straight matches.
- With the win, the Bobcats improved to 15-2 in conference play and 18-11 overall.
