Fairfield, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats head down to Fairfield for the 2025 MAAC Volleyball Championships as the number two seed. They will face the three-seed, Rider Broncs, in the MAAC Semifinal on Friday afternoon.

SCOUTING THE BRONCS
- Rider enters the matchup on Saturday with a 15-15 overall record and a 12-6 MAAC record.
- The Broncs punched their ticket to the MAAC Semifinal round after defeating the Siena Saints in the MAAC Quarterfinals, 3-0, on Tuesday, November 18th.
- Kiannisha Santiago was named the MAAC Player of the Year, as announced by the league office on Thursday, November 20th.
- The Bobcats swept the Broncs in both meetings this season (Oct. 10 at Rider and Nov. 10 at Quinnipiac).
- Quinnipiac and Rider met in the MAAC Semifinals last season and defeated them in four sets (Nov. 23rd in Loudonville, NY).

MAAC AWARDS SEASON
- For the third straight season, Damla Gunes was named the MAAC Setter of the Year, becoming the first Bobcat to accomplish that feat.
- Kyle Robinson earned MAAC Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his Quinnipiac tenure after leading the Bobcats to a 16-2 MAAC season.
- Damla Gunes, Yagmur Gunes, and Elena Giacomini were named to the All-MAAC First Team, and six Bobcats were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
LOOKING BACK
- Quinnipiac closed out the regular season with a sweep in Western New York (Nov. 14-15).
- The Bobcats started the weekend with a come-from-behind win against the Niagara Purple Eagles after dropping the opening set. Ginevra Giovagnoni led the Bobcats with 17 kills in the win, the most she has recorded in a match this season. Giovagnoni reached the double-digit kill threshold for the sixth straight match.
- On Saturday, after dropping the first two sets to Canisius, the Bobcats came all the way back to defeat the Golden Griffins in five sets. Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 24 kills in the five-set win over the Golden Griffins. Giacomini ended the regular season with 10+ kills in 28 of 30 matches.
BACK IN THE POSTSEASON
- Quinnipiac punched their ticket to the 2025 MAAC Championships, securing the two seed.
- This marks the 10th year in a row that the Bobcats have booked their spot to the MAAC Tournament.
2024 SEASON REWIND
- The Bobcats finished the season with 19 wins, including a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
- The Bobcats finished 15-3 in MAAC play, which locked them into the No. 2 seed for the 2024 MAAC Championships.
- QU defeated No. 3 Rider, 3-1, in the MAAC Semifinals to punch their ticket to the title game.
- Quinnipiac ultimately fell in four sets to in-state rival Fairfield as their season came to an end.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- Quinnipiac women's volleyball was selected to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on August 20th.
- Elena Giacomini was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after winning the MAAC Player of the Year award last season.
- Along with Giacomini being named to the All-MAAC Preseason team, Ginevra Giovagnoni and Damla Gunes also earned those honors.
HEAD COACH KYLE ROBINSON
- Head Coach Kyle Robinson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats in 2025. Robinson currently has an 82-81 (.503) record in his tenure in Hamden, including this season's matches.
- Robinson is 226-164 over his career as a collegiate head coach (7 seasons at LIU before QU).
- Robinson has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac volleyball by becoming the first head coach in program history to lead the program to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
STRONG RETURNING GROUP
- The Bobcats return 10 members who were on the squad last season.
- Among those returners are Elena Giacomini, last season's MAAC Player of the Year and this season's Preseason Player of the Year, Damla Gunes, the two-time MAAC Setter of the Year, Ginevra Giovagnoni, last season's Preseason Player of the Year, and Yagmur Gunes, who was named to the 2024 MAAC All-Tournament team.
