Bobcats down Bryant in Season Opener, 1-0 (OT)
HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a 1-0 overtime victory against the Bryant Bulldogs. Kelsey Goldring scored the game winner in the 92nd minute of the first overtime period off a cross from freshman Markela Bejleri.
The Quinnipiac women's soccer program also honored head coach Dave Clarke, who began his 20th season at the helm of the women's soccer program for the 2019 season.

SCORING SUMMARY
- (92' – Quinnipiac 1, Bryant 0): As the first overtime period began, Quinnipiac came out on the attack, putting high pressure on the Bryant back line. Freshman Markela Bejleri sent a bouncing cross through four Bulldog defenders and found Goldring on the hop inside the penalty box. Goldring shot the cross into the top right corner to give the Bobcats the 1-0 win.
- Freshman Meaghan Phillips made her first career start in the net for the Bobcats and recorded her first shutout. She tallied three saves in the win, including an important one in the 16th minute when Bryant saw its best chance of the game with a breakaway by Remi Manna. Phillips was able to tip Manna's shot out of bounds for a corner.
- Senior Ally Grunstein and sophomores Lauren Wendland and Emily Loney all tallied two shots each.
- Goldring scored her first goal of the season and 12th of her career.
- Bejleri tallied her first career assist.
- The Bobcats recorded 10 shots in the win and held the Bulldogs to five.
- Bryant committed 10 fouls, and Quinnipiac had nine.
- This is the first time since 2012 that the Bobcats have opened the season with a shutout.
