Former Men's Ice Hockey Forward Wins AHL Title with Charlotte Checkers
CHICAGO, Ill. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey forward Scott Davidson '19 won the Calder Cup with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers as the Checkers defeated the Chicago Wolves in five games of their best-of-seven game series.
Davidson is the first-ever former Bobcat to win a Calder Cup and the Bobcats have now clinched two of the three major North American hockey championships after Michael Garteig '16 backstopped the Newfoundland Growlers to the Kelly Cup as ECHL Champions.
The Checkers won game five of the Calder Cup, 3-1, for the first Calder Cup in franchise history. Davidson signed with the Checkers on April 10 and practiced with the team throughout the playoff run.
Davidson wrapped up his Quinnipiac career this spring, playing in all 38 games with three goals and five assists for eight points. In his career, Davidson played in 154 games with 15 goals and 26 assists. Davidson is tied with Chase Priskie '19 in program history with 154 games played.
Former Bobcat Connor Clifton '17 will look to complete the North American championship sweep on Wednesday as he and the NHL's Boston Bruins meet the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
