Moskey Tallies Three Hits, Scafariello Homers in Victory
The first inning outburst began when Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded. A throwing error by Hartford's Chris Sullivan resulted in two runs scoring on the play. The next batter, Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts), reached on an error by right fielder Eric Bonkowski, which allowed Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) to score from second and Ostberg to advance to third.
Ostberg scored on a wild pitch to the next Bobcats hitter and was followed by a Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) two-run double to extend the lead to 5-0. Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) grounded to first with the bases loaded to bring another run home and Moskey scored on a wild pitch to end the early scoring barrage.
Hartford added runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh inning, only to see the Bobcats respond with three of their own in the seventh and eighth.
Three Quinnipiac pitchers, Derek Goldrick (Weare, New Hampshire), Colin Donnelly (Flemington, New Jersey) and Christian Nicolosi (Stony Point, New York) tossed three innings each and combined for 12 strikeouts, while only allowing one run apiece in the win.
