Three Bobcats Record Two Hits in Losing Effort

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Quinnipiac baseball team racked up five runs and 10 hits Wednesday afternoon but the Bobcats came up short in a non-conference showdown with the Boston College Eagles, 11-5, at the Harrington Athletics Village.

Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) and Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) each recorded two hits and two runs scored while Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) had two RBIs.

Quinnipiac scored four runs from the third to the fifth innings as it attempted to come back from an early deficit but the Bobcats could not overcome the Eagles' early offense.

THIRD INNING

Moskey and Scafariello hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning
After Moskey was caught stealing and Scafariello moved up to second, Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) laid down a bunt single to third base to move up Scafariello
Vulgamore reached on a fielder's choice to score Scafariello and cut the Eagles lead to 4-1

FOURTH INNING

Ostberg doubled to right field with one out in the inning and stole third base before he came home to score on a Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) sacrifice fly

FIFTH INNING

Moskey singled through the left side to lead off the inning before moving up to second on a bunt single from Scafariello
Lutz moved the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt before Vulgamore scored Moskey with a sacrifice fly
Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) laid down a bunt single to third base to score Scafariello and make it 8-4, Eagles.

SEVENTH INNING

Moskey walked to lead off the inning and moved up to third on a pair of outs before scoring on a Vulgamore stolen base and the second baseman threw the ball away trying to nab Moskey at the plate.

NOTES

Moskey went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and reached base three times as he now has five hits in his last eight at bats
Scafariello also recorded two hits and two runs scored for the Bobcats
Vulgamore led the team with two RBIs and added a double along with a stolen base

UPCOMING GAME

Quinnipiac travels down to Philadelphia this weekend for three more non-conference games as the Bobcats and La Salle Explorers meet in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
