Huscher Leads Way with Three Hits on the Day but Bobcats Come Up Short
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac baseball shortstop Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) recorded three hits, including a pair of doubles, in Saturday's doubleheader but the Bobcats came up short in the first MAAC losses of the season as they fell to Canisius 9-2 in game one before a 3-1 loss in game two.
The Bobcats trailed 4-0 heading into the seventh inning of the first game on Saturday before plating a pair of runs to cut the Golden Griffins lead in half but it wasn't enough as Canisius scored five over the final two innings to take the first game.
After giving up a first-inning run in game two, the Bobcats evened up the score with a sacrifice fly from Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) but Canisius added two unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull ahead for the 3-1 win in game two.
Andrew Workman (Pound Ridge, New York) was stellar out of the bullpen in the second game for the Bobcats as he allowed just one hit over three innings with a strikeout as he gave the Bobcats a chance to come back late.
