Bobcats Outfielder Homers Twice, Ties Zangari '00 with 39 Career Home Runs
Scafariello's two-home run game was his second of the season as he tied Joe Zangari '00 for the most home runs in a career. Scafariello reached 39 career home runs in just three seasons spanning 144 games.
As a team, the Bobcats smashed four home runs in Monday's rout of the Broncs in a game that was postponed from Sunday due to field conditions. The Bobcats' four home runs in a single game are their most this season.
In total, Scafariello was 3 for 3 at the plate with his two home runs, a single, two walks and five RBIs as he reached base in all five plate appearances. Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) also recorded three hits as he went 3 for 4 with a double, home run, two RBIs, two stolen bases and four runs scored.
Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) reached base in all five plate appearances as he singled twice, scored three times and walked three times while Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) also homered for the Bobcats.

FIRST INNING
- The Bobcats scored pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning as Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) walked to lead off the game, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch before coming home to score on a two-run home run from Vulgamore.
- After Rider scored a pair of runs in the top of the inning, the Bobcats regained the lead for good in the bottom half starting with a Scafariello walk
- He moved up to third on a Kevin Huscher (Middleboro, Massachusetts) single and scored on a failed pickoff attempt by Rider starter Andrew Imperatore
- The Bobcats scored for a third straight inning as Vulgamore was hit by a pitch and moved up to second on a Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) walk.
- After the two successfully pulled off a double steal, Vulgamore scored on an Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) groundout to make it 4-2
- Quinnipiac blew open the game with five runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-2 lead
- Ostberg led off the inning with a walk and stole second after a pitching change for Rider
- Vulgamore singled through the left side to move Ostberg up to third before stealing second to put two runners in scoring position
- Bender walked to load the bases before all three runners moved up, with Ostberg scoring on a wild pitch
- Cruz drew a second straight walk and Vulgamore scored in the next at-bat on a wild pitch
- With runners on second and third, Scafariello lifted a long three-run home run over the left field fence for his first of the game

- After a pop out, Scafariello stepped and launched the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for his second of the game and wrap up the Bobcats scoring at 15-2

- Scafariello tied the program record for home runs in a career with his 39th on Monday, tying Joe Zangari '00 who hit 39 home runs in Quinnipiac's Division I and II days
- Scafariello reached base five times in a game for the first time this season
- With his two-homer day, he now has eight home runs this season to move into a tie for third in the MAAC
- Over his last 12 games played, Scafariello has a team-best .429 batting average and .619 on base percentage
- Correira settled into Monday's start and pitched seven innings for the second time in his career, recording five strikeouts and allowing just two runs on six hits
- He has recorded five strikeouts five times this season and now has 41 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched.
- Vulgamore was 3 for 4 with a double, home run and two stolen bases in one of his best games of the season
- He now has 21 extra-base hits this season as he hit his team-leading 14th double and his fifth home run this season
- Vulgamore is just three RBIs and five runs scored from tying last season's career-highs

- The Bobcats have a pair midweek games on the docket as they travel to Bryant on Tuesday before returning home on Wednesday to face Central Connecticut State.
- First pitch on Tuesday against the Bulldogs is set for 3 p.m. from Conaty Park in Smithfield, Rhode Island, before returning to the QU Baseball Field for a 3 p.m. first pitch with the Blue Devils on Wednesday
