
Baseball Falls in Doubleheader at La Salle

Bobcats Drop First Game 18-8 and Come Up Just Short in Game Two, 2-1
Andre Marrero (West Springfield, Massachusetts) and Ian Ostberg (Northampton, Massachusetts) also had three hits in Saturday's doubleheader as Marrero added a triple and Ostberg doubled in the game.
Early in game one, the Bobcats scored four runs over the first two innings to jump out to an early lead but the Explorers scored 11 runs over the third through sixth inning to take the lead for good.
La Salle scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning but Quinnipiac only managed one run in the seven-inning game in the loss.

FIRST INNING
- Dylan Lutz (Denver, Colorado) singled up the middle to lead off the inning and quickly come home to score in the next at bat as Vulgamore tripled to left center to score Lutz from first
- Bender followed Vulgamore's triple with one of his own to easily score Vulgamore
- Marrero came up to bat and singled to score Bender and give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead
- The Bobcats extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning as Scafariello walked with one out in the inning and promptly stole second and third to put himself in scoring position.
- With two outs in the inning, Vulgamore singled to left field to score Scafariello
- Quinnipiac snapped a stretch of 11 straight runs from La Salle with a three-run seventh inning to pull within four runs
- Kyle Maves (Burlington, Ontario) walked to lead off the inning
- With two outs in the inning, he stole second before scoring on Marrero's triple to left center
- Ostberg followed Marrero's triple with a double down the right field line to score Marrero before coming home to score himself on an Anthony Cruz (Burlington, Massachusetts) single down the right field line
- After four runs in the bottom of the seventh for La Salle, the Bobcats got another run back in the eighth.
- Brian Moskey (Higganum, Connecticut) walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch
- Derek Kasperzyk (Killingworth, Connecticut) and Maves each walked to load the bases with no outs
- Vulgamore hit into a double play but scored Moskey to cut the Explorers lead to 15-8.

FIFTH INNING
- Quinnipiac cut La Salle's early 2-0 lead from the first in half with a run in the top of the fifth inning
- Scafariello reached on an error by the first baseman with one out in the inning and moved up to second on Lutz walk
- Vulgamore singled to left field to score Scafariello but the inning was cut short as Lutz was gunned out on the base path.
- Vulgamore extended his hitting streak to five games with his hits in both ends of the doubleheader
- He also has RBIs in each of his last five games with eight RBIs in that stretch; while he has 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored this season
