- NEW ENGLAND DIVISION I ALL-STARS
BOSTON, Mass. – The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team received three selections to the All-New England Division I All-Star Teams, as announced by the New England Hockey Writers Association on Thursday, March 28.
Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) was named a Division I All-Star at Goaltender while Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) was honored at Defense and Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) made the All-Star Team as a Forward.
Quinnipiac and UMass tied for the lead amongst New England teams with three honorees a piece, while Quinnipiac players represented three of the five players from ECAC Hockey institutions that received recognition.
The three honorees are the most the Bobcats have ever received, surpassing the two the Bobcats received in 2015-16 with Devon Toews and Sam Anas being honored.
Earlier Thursday afternoon, Shortridge was named a finalist for the Mike Richter Award that honors the top goaltender in the nation. Shortridge has also been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year.
Shortridge and Priskie were both named to the ECAC Hockey First Team earlier this offseason while Tufto was named to the ECAC Hockey Second Team.
Shortridge has been among the best goaltenders in the nation during the 2018-19 season as he leads the nation with a 1.51 GAA and .941 save percentage. His .720 winning percentage ranks seventh in the nation and he has tallied 17 wins on the season. He is also one of 17 goaltenders in the nation to record at least four shutouts this season.
Priskie has also been one of the best defensemen in not just New England, but the nation as he leads all defensemen with 17 goals while his 39 points rank fifth among defensemen. Priskie's 17 goals are the most in a single-season by a defenseman in program history while he is one point from becoming the Bobcats first 40-point defenseman since Reid Cashman in the 2006-07 season.
Tufto followed up his 41-point season as a freshman with 42 points in 2018-19, the first Bobcat with back-to-back 40-point seasons since Cashman did it in three straight seasons. Tufto has 15 goals and 27 assists this season which put him among the best in not just New England, but the entire nation.
