Colgate and Florida A&M Take Two Games Against Softball

Bobcats vs Raiders:
First Inning - Lead-off hitter Kayla Jensen got the Bobcats started with a single to shortstop. Junior Rachel Marchuk hit a sacrifice bunt to allow Jensen to advance to second base. Freshman Lo Yarnall stepped up and hit a single through the right side, allowing Jensen to score.
Fifth Inning - Senior Rebecca Drake reached first base on a fielder's choice, and freshman Danielle Sorenson came in to pinch run for Drake. Sorenson stole second base, and Yarnall reached first base after a fielding error by the Raiders. Otero was walked as the next batter, and Sorenson advanced to third base and Yarnall moved to second. Freshman Bridget Nasir was also walked allowing each Bobcat to move up a base, and Sorenson scored an unearned run to take the score to 7-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
Highlights vs Colgate:
- Yarnall and Nasir each tallied an RBI.
- Jensen went 2-3 with one run.
- Senior Kendall Brundrett and freshman Lauren King each pitched through five innings and recorded three strikeouts total.
First Inning - Jensen started the scoring again for the Bobcats with a double to center field. Junior Rachel Marchuk singled and then advanced to second base on the throw. Drake hit a sacrific fly to allow Jensen to score from third base. Marchuk was able to score an unearned run from third base on a passed ball.
Third Inning - Jensen hit a single to left field, advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third place to put the Bobcats in a solid scoring opportunity while maintaining the 3-1 lead. Marchuk hit a fly ball to center field, allowing Jensen to score.
Sixth Inning - In the bottom of the sixth inning, Drake hit a double to center field and Yarnall, who was on second base, moved to third. The Rattlers recorded their second passed ball of the game, and Yarnall scored from third. Nasir hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field, and Drake scored from third to tie the game, 5-5.
Highlights vs Florida A&M:
- Jensen recorded two runs in the 6-5 loss and went 2-4.
- Marchuk went 1-4 with one run, and Drake went 2-3 with one run.
- Freshman Brooklyn Maguire pitched six innings, allowing five runs and tallied one strikeout.
- King pitched the final three innings and notched three strikeouts.
