Softball Drops Close Game to Colgate, 7-6

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Quinnipiac softball team dropped a single game to the Colgate Raiders, 7-6, in Clearwater, Fla. This was the final independent game for the Bobcats before they begin competition in the USF Under Armour Showcase on Friday, March 15.
Bobcats vs Raiders:
Third Inning - The Bobcats got on the board after a double from senior Rebecca Drake and a run from junior Rachel Marchuk, who was on second base.
Fifth Inning- Quinnipiac scored three runs in the fifth inning after a passed ball error by Colgate's catcher. Sophomore Kayla Jensen and senior Erin Larsen both scored on the play. Freshman Lo Yarnall tallied a triple to advance to third base, and Drake sent her home with a single.
Seventh Inning - Down 7-4, the Bobcats almost completed the comeback in the last inning, scoring two runs to come within one of the Raiders. Sophomore Brighid Douglas hit a sacrifice bunt, allowing Yarnalland junior Rachel Marhuck two score.
Highlights:
The Bobcats will get a rematch against the Raiders on Friday, March 15 at 11:45 a.m.
