
Priskie, Shortridge, Tufto Named Semi-Finalists for 67th Walter Brown Award

BOSTON – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey's Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida), Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) and Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) have been named Among 20 finalist for the 67th Walter Brown Award, as announced by The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston on Monday morning.
The Walter Brown Award is presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England and is the nation's oldest nationally-recognized college hockey award. The award is named after Walter Brown, who was the coach of the 1933 Massachusetts Rangers, the first American team to ever win the World Championship Tournament.
Quinnipiac's three semi-finalists for the Walter Brown Award are its most in program history and tied with UMass for the most by one institution for 2019. Among the 20 semi-finalists, 12 are from Hockey East while six are from ECAC Hockey and two are from Atlantic Hockey.
Tufto, a sophomore for the Bobcats, was also a semi-finalist last of the 2018 Walter Brown Award.
Priskie is among the nation's top players this season as he is leads the nation with nine power-play goals, 20 power-play points, five game-winning goals and is tied for sixth in the nation with 33 points. Among defensemen, Priskie ranks even higher as he is tied for the national lead with 14 goals while his 33 points are second and he leads the nation averaging 0.54 goals per game.
Shortridge has been one of the best goaltenders in the nation this season as he leads the nation with a 1.22 GAA and .952 save percentage, all while allowing the fewest goals (17) among qualifying goaltenders. He also ranks second in the nation with a .833 winning percentage while his 12 wins and three shutouts are second in ECAC Hockey.
Just like Priskie, Tufto has also entrenched himself as one of the premier scorers in the nation as he is tied for third with 35 points, sixth with 22 assists and has also buried 13 goals. Within ECAC Hockey, Tufto is first in points, second in assists and tied for third in goals while his 274 faceoff wins are tied for second.
Quinnipiac is tied with Yale for second in ECAC Hockey with 19 points from 9-4-1 records, just one point back of Cornell for the top spot in the league. In addition to being among the top ECAC Hockey teams, the Bobcats are also ranked in the Top Five in both national polls as well as the PairWise Rankings.
