Junior Finishes One Point Shy of Career High in Loss
HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Shaq Edwards nearly matched her career high with 19 points on Saturday afternoon, but it was not enough to lift Quinnipiac over Harvard in non-conference women's basketball action.
Senior Paige Warfel pulled down 11 rebounds in the game, marking her third contest of the year with 10 or more rebounds. The Pennsylvania native currently ranks first among all MAAC players in rebounds per game and offensive rebounds per game.

- The Bobcats made two of their first three shots to jump out to an early 5-0 lead in Saturday's game. First year Sajada Bonner hit a three and senior Taylor Herd followed it up with a jumper to get things started.
- Harvard proceeded to go on a 15-4 run over the next six minutes to open up a 15-9 advantage in the first quarter. Five different players scored for the Crimson in the run.
- Edwards made a layup with 3:37 remaining in the period, starting an individual 9-4 run that cut the deficit to a single point with 1:45 to play. Edwards was 4-4 shooting with a rebound and a three pointer in quick burst.
- The Crimson scored the last two buckets of the quarter to extend the lead back to five points at the break and then made it eight on a Lola Mullaney triple in the first possession of the second quarter.
- Quinnipiac cut the lead to one on multiple occasions in the second quarter before tying the game on a Mikala Morris layup with 53 seconds left in the half.
- Harvard opened the third quarter with six straight points before the Bobcats responded with their best stretch of the game.
- Amani Free and Cur'Tiera Haywood hit back-to-back threes to spark a 12-3 Quinnipiac run that ended with a steal and fastbreak layup by Mackenzie DeWees, giving the Bobcats a 49-48 lead.
- After Harvard regained the lead with another three-pointer, another DeWees layup tied the game at 51 with 1:43 remaining in the third frame.
- Four Crimson free throws book-ended a Jaden Ward layup and sent Harvard into the final intermission with a two-point edge.
- Edwards retied the game at 55 with a layup to open the fourth quarter before Harvard went on its most important run of the afternoon.
- Rachel Levy, Jeannie Boehm, and Mullaney combined to score eight straight points for the visitors in what would turn out to be a 22-15 advantage in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.
- Edwards recorded new season-highs in points and rebounds while Bonner had a career-best three three-pointers in the effort.
- Free's two three-pointers are a new career best, after she had one triple in six games to this point.
- The Bobcats led in many statistical categories, including 37-35 in rebounds, 24-10 in bench points, 22-15 in second chance points, 15-7 on points off turnovers, and 8-4 on steals.
- The Bobcats will remain at home when the George Washington Colonials visit Hamden on Saturday, December 7 for a 2 PM start at the People's United Center.
