HAMDEN, Conn. - All eyes are on Hamden Sunday afternoon as the No. 9/13 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team and Vermont Catamounts played in the only regular season action beginning at 2 p.m. from Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
 
Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts opened the 2019-20 season with a weekend split in the North Country with a loss at Clarkson before shutting out St. Lawrence, 2-0, for the season. Four different Catamounts have scored the goals for Vermont this season while Joey Cipollone has a goal and an assist to lead all scorers. Andrew Lucas and Jacques Bouquot each have two assists. Stefanos Lekkas has been solid in his first two starts, posting a 1.52 GAA and .955 save percentage with 64 saves on 67 shots to go with on shutout.
 
All-Time vs. Vermont
Quinnipiac is 3-1 all-time against Vermont as the two teams head into their fifth all-time meeting. The Bobcats have won two straight games against the Catamounts over the past two seasons with Odeen Tufto scoring game-winning goals in both games. Quinnipiac and Vermont are meeting for a fourth straight season and just the second time in Hamden.
 
Last Time Out
The Bobcats split last weekend's two-game series in Hamden with the Maine Black Bears as they fell Friday night, 4-2, before bouncing back with a 4-3 win Saturday night. Wyatt Bongiovanni led the Bobcats with two goals and three points on the weekend while Keith Petruzzelli rebounded Saturday with 22 saves in his third win of the season.
 
Skate with the Bobcats
Quinnipiac hosts Skate with the Bobcats Sunday afternoon, an initiative that invites Quinnipiac hockey fans to join the men's ice hockey team on the ice for a post-game skate. This season's Skate with the Bobcats will begin following Sunday's game against Vermont.
 
National Rankings
The Bobcats are back to No. 9/13 in the nation after the latest national polls, ranked No. 9 in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll and No. 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll. Quinnipiac has been ranked in the top 10 of at least one national poll for 21 consecutive weeks.
 
Pro Updates
Chase Priskie and Sam Anas are both among the Top 10 AHL players to start the 2019-20 season, according to The Hockey News. Priskie scored his first goal last weekend as part of a four-point game at Syracuse and has seven points through the first six games. Anas has three goals and five assists for eight points in six games, including a two-goal, one-assist game at Manitoba when he became Iowa's all-time leading scorer. Devon Toews continues to shine in the NHL with the New York Islanders, recording six points in nine games to open the season.
 
Winning Ways
Quinnipiac has opened the season with three wins through its first four games, the second straight season with at least three wins in the first four games and third time in the past five seasons. It is the 10th time in Division I that Quinnipiac has started with at least three wins in its first four games of a season.
 
Goals on Goals
Wyatt Bongiovanni has been among the Bobcats top offensive weapons through the first four games as he has four total points and has scored a goal in three straight games. Bongiovanni's three-game goal streak is the longest of his career while his current three-game point streak is tied for the longest of his career. Bongiovanni's two-point game against Maine Saturday night was his fifth career multi-point game.
 
Rackin' Up the Points
Peter DiLiberatore has opened the season with a four-game point streak, the longest streak on the team. After opening the season with a goal against AIC, DiLiberatore now has an assist in three straight games.
