HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey team kicks off another split weekend with a road game at No. 19 Old Dominion Friday afternoon before returning back to Hamden to take on the Brown Bears in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
Scouting Old Dominion
The Monarchs come into the sixth weekend of BIG EAST play with an 8-5 record overall and 4-1 mark in conference action. Old Dominion has split its last six games, going 3-3 but are 3-1 in their last four BIG EAST contests. Last time out, Old Dominion beat Temple at home, 2-1. Rebecca Birch leads the team with eight goals and 20 points on the season while Riley Taylor has a team-best seven assists. Erin Huffman has also been impressive on the defensive end with six goals and 13 points. Cam MacGillivray owns a 2.05 GAA and .688 save percentage in 13 games this season along with three shutouts.
All-Time vs. Old Dominion
Friday marks the sixth all-time meeting between Quinnipiac and Old Dominion with the Bobcats owning a 1-4 record against the Monarchs. Last season, the Bobcats fell at home against the Monarchs in a 3-0 contest. Quinnipiac's lone win against Old Dominion came on Oct. 14, 2016 when the Bobcats won in overtime, 3-2, when the Monarchs were also ranked No. 19. in the nation.
Scouting Brown
Brown has won three of its last five games to up their record to 5-8 on the season and 1-3 in the Ivy League. The Bears last two non-conference wins have come against Cal and Holy Cross. Danielle van Rootselaar leads the team with seven goals and four assists for 18 points and has recorded 36 shots on goal. Hannah Leckey and Gina Openshaw each have four goals this season. The Bears have played three goalkeeper this season but Calista Manuzza has started the bulk of the games with a 4.57 GAA and .556 save percentage while Allee Ayles has a 3.15 GAA and .622 save percentage.
All-Time vs. Brown
Quinnipiac is 5-3 all-time against Brown heading into Sunday's matchup and have won each of the last five meetings dating back to the 2012 season. Last year, the Bobcats dominated the Bears, 6-1, in Hamden.

Quinnipiac heads into the weekend in search of a playoff spot for the BIG EAST Tournament. With a 1-4 record in BIG EAST play, the Bobcats can clinch a playoff spot with wins in its last two BIG EAST games and ending the season in a three-way tie with Providence and Georgetown.

Amazing Amanda
Amanda Blum recorded her first goal of the 2019 season in the Bobcats' shootout loss at Providence as she played in her 15th game. Blum now has six goals in the past two seasons, tied for the second-most on the team in that span.
Just Jules
Julianna Cappello scored her third goal of the season with the go-ahead goal at the time at Providence. Cappello has scored a goal in three of the last four BIG EAST contests and is second on the team in goals.
Scoring Strubbe
Strubbe capped off the goal scoring for the Bobcats last season with her sixth goal of the season, good for the team lead. Strubbe has nine goals in her career after scoring three goals in her first season in 2018.
Mack Attack
Mack Vorel has started two straight games for the Bobcats and played in the last three, totaling 15 saves and lowering her GAA to 2.63 along with a .745 save percentage. Vorel ranks third in the BIG EAST in save percentage.
