Bobcats Drop BIG EAST Contest, 4-0, to Monarchs at L.R. Hill Sports Complex
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac field hockey traveled to the No. 19 Old Dominion Monarchs Friday afternoon and fell in BIG EAST play, 4-0, in the penultimate league game of the 2019 season.
Mack Vorel (Mendham, New Jersey) made her third straight start for the Bobcats and made eight saves, her second most in a game this season, to keep the Bobcats in a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Bobcats kept up the defensive pressure but the Monarchs scored a pair of goals early in each quarter of the second half.

- 11:33 (Quinnipiac 0, ODU 1): Old Dominion took the lead in the later stages of the first quarter as Alexandria Brewer waited on the back door for a pass from Rebecca Birch to tap home the goal
- 26:13 (Quinnipiac 0, ODU 2): The Bobcats battled defensively before the Monarchs added their second goal of the game as Jess Miller tipped a shot by Rebecca Birch on a penalty corner to double the Monarch's lead.
- 35:59 (Quinnipiac 0, ODU 3): Ashleigh Thomas scored her first goal of the game to give Old Dominion a 3-0 lead. After the ball was fed into the circle and was loose, Thomas collected it and beat the Bobcats' new goalkeeper Biermann-Ratjen on the right.
- 46:08 (Quinnipiac 0, ODU 4): Erin Huffman added a fourth goal for the Monarchs as a shot from Riley Taylor fluttered and was deflected by Brewer right to Huffman where she batted it out of mid-air.
NOTES
- Vorel made eight saves in the first half for the Bobcats, her second-most in a game this season since making 15 in her collegiate debut at California.
- Vorel now has 49 saves this season to go with a .754 save percentage, the third-best in the BIG EAST this season
- Biermann-Ratjen made two saves off the bench in the second half and now has 55 saves this season.
