Hillinger, Scaglia Each Score Twice, Bobcats Top Canisius 5-0

QU Scores Four Goals in a Half for Second Time in Two Seasons
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team exploded for four goals in the first half Saturday afternoon and settled in for a 5-0 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins on Alumni Weekend at Quinnipiac University.
Simon Hillinger (Ditzingen, Germany) and Griffin Scaglia (Glastonbury, Connecticut) each scored two goals in the first half to lead the Bobcats while Brage Aasen (Frogner, Norway) recorded a pair of assists. Scaglia's two goals were the first of his career.
Oriac Vila Rotxes (Navas, Spain) added a second half goal to cap off the scoring for the Bobcats.
With the win, Quinnipiac is unbeaten in its last three games while Jared Mazzola (Katonah, New York) recorded his second consecutive shutout with three saves in the win.

- (3' – Quinnipiac 1, Canisius 0): Hillinger got the Bobcats on the board just 2:18 into the game as Christian Casagranda (Brooklyn, New York) played a ball from the right side into the box where Hillinger collected the ball at the PK spot and drilled home the goal
- (25' – Quinnipiac 2, Canisius 0): Scaglia got his first of the game off a corner kick from Aasen where he flicked the ball off the back of his head and deflected into the goal
- (36' – Quinnipiac 3, Canisius 0): Scaglia added another goal just under 11 minutes later off a free kick from Romain Daniellou (Brest, France) about 35 yards out where it took a bounce in the center of the box and Scaglia headed it inside the far post.
- (44' – Quinnipiac 4, Canisius 0): Hillinger closed out the half with his second goal with 1:36 to play in the half as he collected a pass from Aasen in the top left corner and floated the ball over Canisius goalkeeper Fabio D'Errico to cap off a four-goal half for the Bobcats
- (79' – Quinnipiac 5, Canisius 0): Vila Rotxes put home a goal of his own late in the second half for his first of the game and third of the season off a perfect lead pass from Andrew Sullivan (Glastonbury, Connecticut)
NOTES
- Quinnipiac scored four goals in a half for the first time since Oct. 31 of last season when the Bobcats scored four second-half goals in a 6-0 win vs. Monmouth, the only times Quinnipiac has scored four goals in a half in the past 10 seasons
- Hillinger recorded his second career two-goal game and first since his freshman season when he scored two goals against Marist on Oct. 21, 2017.
- Hillinger had scored just two goals through the first 11 games of the season
- Scaglia scored the first two goals of his Quinnipiac career Saturday afternoon as the defender played in his 13th career game and 11th this season.
- Vila Rotxes' goal was his third of the season and fifth of his career as he gave the Bobcats a five-goal lead
- Aasen continues to rack up the assists with his second career two-assist game to give him five helpers on the season.
- Casagranda recorded his first point of the 2019 season and second of his career with his cross on Hillinger's first goal to open the game
- Daniellou picked up his eighth point of the season with his second assist in Saturday's game
- Sullivan's assist on Vila Rotxes' goal was the first point of his collegiate career
- Mazzola made three saves in his second straight shutout and sixth of his career
