Men's Soccer Welcomes Stony Brook for Wednesday Matchup

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac men's soccer team returns home on Wednesday, as they take on the Stony Brook Seawolves in non-conference action, the final non-Metro Conference matchup for the Bobcats in 2026.

Quinnipiac is coming off a 2-0 defeat to New Haven on Wednesday night on the road, while Stony Brook earned its fourth consecutive draw, a 1-1 tie at Northeastern on Sept. 6.

LAST TIME OUT

The Bobcats were held goalless for the first time this season, falling to the Chargers of New Haven by a 2-0 final on Wednesday night at New Haven.
The game was fairly even in shots, with New Haven holding a slim 10-9 advantage but the New Haven netminder kept all five Quinnipiac shots on frame out of the net.
New Haven used two, second-half tallies less than seven minutes apart to record the victory, tallying goals in the 65^th and 72^nd minute.

THE SERIES VS. STONY BROOK

The two teams have met three times overall but just once in the last fifteen seasons, with Stony Brook holding a 2-0-1 advantage.
The squads met on Long Island last year, with the host Seawolves earning a 3-0 victory over the Bobcats.
The last matchup between the two teams on the north side of the Long Island Sound was in 2009, a 1-1 draw.

SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES

Stony Brook has yet to record a result in the 2026 season, drawing all four of its matches to begin the campaign. The squad was picked to finish second in the CAA's North Division.
They have come from behind in three of the four matchups to earn the draw, but surrendered the tying goal against Northeastern in its latest matchup on Sunday.
Wednesday's visitors have goals from five different sources on the year, including Alex Fleury, who was named Preseason All-CAA.

HE'S HERE, HE'S THERE, HE'S EVERYWHERE…

Sophomore midfielder Taehyeon Lim took the NCAA Soccer world by storm the last week of August, totaling four goals (two game-winners) and two assists across a pair of dramatic victories against Providence and Yale.
On Monday against the Friars, Lim converted a spot kick in the 82^nd minute to finish a halftime comeback and give the Bobcats a 3-2 victory in their 2026 home opener.
Four days later, the big fireworks came as Lim recorded a second-half hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals to turn a 3-1 halftime deficit into a dramatic, 4-3 victory over Yale in New Haven.
He was named the Metro Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, as well as a member of the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week and National Player of the Week.

IN SAFE HAN(SEN)

First-year netminder Alexander Hansen earned Metro Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 15-save week against Providence and Yale.
The 10 stops against the Friars on Monday are tied for the fifth-most by a goalkeeper this season, with it being the second-most by a first-year netminder.
Fellow Metro Conference keeper Bennet Glinder made 12 stops on opening night against NJIT, the most by any goalie in the country.
Hansen's 12 total saves are second-most in the Metro and 13^th nationally, while his 5.67 saves per game are 9^th-best in the country.

THE DA COSTA FILE

Head Coach Eric Da Costa enters year 22 with the Bobcat program, currently sitting with 165 career victories and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
He has made the postseason tournament 12 of the last 14 seasons, including 11 of the last 13 METRO postseasons.
He has an overall record of 167-170-62.

RETURNING PROWESS

William Holum leads the returning scorers for the Bobcats, potting four goals and adding an assist during the 2025 campaign. He made 18 appearances, starting 17 of them.
Other multi-goal scorers returning include Andrew Monteserin (two goals) and Benjamin Telle (two goals).
Fynn Ost returns to lead the Quinnipiac backline where he logged 1165 minutes a season ago, making 14 starts and three more appearances off the bench.

FIFTH IN THE METRO

The 2026 Metro Conference preseason poll placed Quinnipiac fifth in the league rankings ahead of this year's campaign, tied with Marist.
The Bobcats earned 109 points in the poll and will face each of the teams ahead of them in the league season.
