Lim Breaks Single-Game Points Record, Bobcats Best Yale in Thriller

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Sophomore Taehyeon Lim put on a performance never before seen by a Quinnipiac men's soccer player, as the midfielder scored a hat trick and dished an assist to set the Bobcats' single-game points record in a thrilling, come-from-behind 4-3 victory over rivals Yale on Friday night.

After assisting on the first goal of the night, the Montreal, Quebec native slotted three goals home including an 87th-minute, highlight-reel finisher to complete the second half comeback as the visitors erased a 3-1 halftime deficit to earn the 4-3 victory.

Francisco Ferreira started the scoring, poking home a cross from Lim into the far netting to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Yale would score two minutes later to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

Lim's first goal came off a deflected cross, as Zachary DaSilva played the ball into the box and Lim chested an attempted clearance down and fired the ball into the bottom corner.

The sophomore's last two tallies came off runs from the midfield, as he scored 7:24 apart to tie and eventually win the matchup.
It was the first Quinnipiac victory at Reese Stadium since 2013 and the Bobcats' first win over their Whitney Ave., rivals since 2016.
STATS AND NOTES
- Lim recorded the Bobcats' first hat trick since 2022 and the ninth in the program's Division I history. He also now has 10 points on the season.
- Quinnipiac is now 4-2-1 over its last seven meetings against Yale.
- The Montreal native also added his second, game-winning goal of the season. That's tied for the most in the country.
- Ferreira has seven career goals to his name, tallying a marker in all four of his seasons on campus.
- Andrew Monteserin saw his first action of the 2026 campaign, adding an assist on the game-winner.
- The Bobcats' four goals are the most against Division I opposition since scoring five against Central Connecticut State on Sept. 10, 2024.
- The seven goals against Providence and Yale are the most since a two-game stretch against Siena and Stonehill in Sept. 2022, when the Bobcats' potted eight.
