Men's Soccer Looks to Continue Winning Ways at New Haven

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac men's soccer team plays the back end of its two-game road swing on Wednesday night, as the Bobcats trek back down I-95 to take on the Chargers of New Haven for a 6 p.m., kickoff.
The Bobcats are looking to make it three wins out of three after its season-opening defeat, while New Haven has yet to find a win in each of its first three outings.

- Quinnipiac earned yet another late, dramatic winner from Taehyeon Lim on Friday night, as the sophomore singlehandedly erased a 3-1 deficit with a second-half hat trick, giving the Bobcats a 4-3 victory over Yale.
- Lim scored in the 51st, 79th and 87th minute to give the Bobcats the victory over their Whitney Ave., rivals and give Lim his second, late-minute GWG in as many outings.
- He earned both TopDrawer Soccer and Metro Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, totaling four goals and two assists across the two contests.
- Andrew Hansen also had four stops in the second half for five in the game.
- Francisco Ferreira started the scoring for Quinnipiac, poking home a cross in the 38th minute to cut the then-deficit to 2-1.
- In the first-ever Division I meeting between the two sides in 2025, the Bobcats took home a 3-0 victory in Hamden thanks to goals from Alex Miller, Benjamin Telle and Andrew Monteserin.
- Both Telle and Monteserin also added assists in the shutout victory.
- In a schedule full of bigger names, New Haven has dropped its first three matches of the 2026 campaign by a combined five goals.
- They fell 3-2 to Maryland on Aug. 24 and were defeated by two each against Northwestern (Aug. 20) and Brown (Aug. 28).
- The Northeastern Conference members went 5-5-6 during the 2025 campaign, including a 3-2-3 record in the NEC.
- Sophomore midfielder Taehyeon Lim took the NCAA Soccer world by storm the last week of August, totaling four goals (two game-winners) and two assists across a pair of dramatic victories against Providence and Yale.
- On Monday against the Friars, Lim converted a spot kick in the 82nd minute to finish a halftime comeback and give the Bobcats a 3-2 victory in their 2026 home opener.
- Four days later, the big fireworks came as Lim recorded a second-half hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals to turn a 3-1 halftime deficit into a dramatic, 4-3 victory over Yale in New Haven.
- He was named the Metro Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, as well as a member of the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week and National Player of the Week.
- First-year netminder Alexander Hansen earned Metro Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 15-save week against Providence and Yale.
- The 10 stops against the Friars on Monday are tied for the fifth-most by a goalkeeper this season, with it being the second-most by a first-year netminder.
- Fellow Metro Conference keeper Bennet Glinder made 12 stops on opening night against NJIT, the most by any goalie in the country.
- Hansen's 12 total saves are second-most in the Metro and 13th nationally, while his 5.67 saves per game are 9th-best in the country.
- Head Coach Eric Da Costa enters year 22 with the Bobcat program, currently sitting with 165 career victories and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
- He has made the postseason tournament 12 of the last 14 seasons, including 11 of the last 13 METRO postseasons.
- He has an overall record of 166-169-62.
- William Holum leads the returning scorers for the Bobcats, potting four goals and adding an assist during the 2025 campaign. He made 18 appearances, starting 17 of them.
- Other multi-goal scorers returning include Andrew Monteserin (two goals) and Benjamin Telle (two goals).
- Fynn Ost returns to lead the Quinnipiac backline where he logged 1165 minutes a season ago, making 14 starts and three more appearances off the bench.
- The 2026 Metro Conference preseason poll placed Quinnipiac fifth in the league rankings ahead of this year's campaign, tied with Marist.
- The Bobcats earned 109 points in the poll and will face each of the teams ahead of them in the league season.
