NIAGARA FALLS, New York - The Quinnipiac men's soccer team earned its first MAAC win of the season with a 2-0 victory on the road against the Niagara Purple Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Senior captains Max Rothenbuecher (Munich, Germany) and James Doig (Liverpool, England) both scored a goal for the Bobcats in the win.

Quinnipiac outshot Niagara 18-11 and 6-4 in shots-on-goal.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead after Rothenbuecher scored on a free kick in the 10th minute.
The free kick was set up after Eamon Whelan (New Fairfield, Connecticut) was tripped up just outside of the box.
Doig followed with his first goal of the season in the 27th minute.
Doig and Rothenbuecher lined up for a free kick and Rothenbuecher faked the shot, tapped it to Doig, who then drilled the shot to the far post.
Chrysostomos Iakovidis (Thessaloniki, Greece) had four saves on the day en route to his second shutout of the season.
The shutout was the ninth of Iakovidis' career.
This was the seventh time in Quinnipiac's last eight contests where Iakovidis has held the opponent to one goal or less.
This was also the eighth-straight game where Iakovidis has held the opponent to two goals or less.
With the win, Doig has tied former goalkeeper Borja Angoita for most wins in program-history in games played with 32.
