Bobcats Open Metro Play against Rider

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac men's soccer team opens Metro Conference play on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Rider Broncs at 1 p.m., in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The Bobcats rounded out non-conference play on Sept. 9., falling to Stony Brook by a 2-1 final. They will have 10 days of rest between the two matchups.

LAST TIME OUT

First-year Giovanni Corsetti scored his first collegiate goal in the 47^th minute against the visiting Seawolves, tying the game at one apiece.
Stony Brook would later score the game winning goal in the 85^th minute off a free kick restart.
The shots on goal were fairly even with the Seawolves recording seven and the Bobcats recording six.

THE SERIES VS. RIDER

The squads have faced each other 14 times since 2013, and the Bobcats currently hold a 5-8-1 record against the Broncs.
The two teams last met in 2024 in Lawrenceville, NJ where Rider defeated the Bobcats 2-0.
The last time the Bobcats faced the Broncs in Hamden, CT, the two teams tied at one apiece in 2023.

SCOUTING THE BRONCS

After a win against La Salle, the Broncs are now 4-1-1 in the season.
Patryk Rojek has recorded 4 points alongside teammates Emmanuel Dan-Adokiene, and Chiemeka Azurunwa.
The team's only loss so far this season comes against Fairleigh Dickinson University.

METRO MATCHUP

This matchup marks the first Metro Conference play for the Bobcats this season.
Quinnipiac went 3-3-3 in league play a season ago, finishing as the sixth seed in the conference playoffs.
The Bobcats won three of their last four league games a season ago en route to clinching the playoff berth.

HE'S HERE, HE'S THERE, HE'S EVERYWHERE…

Sophomore midfielder Taehyeon Lim took the NCAA Soccer world by storm the last week of August, totaling four goals (two game-winners) and two assists across a pair of dramatic victories against Providence and Yale.
On Monday against the Friars, Lim converted a spot kick in the 82^nd minute to finish a halftime comeback and give the Bobcats a 3-2 victory in their 2026 home opener.
Four days later, the big fireworks came as Lim recorded a second-half hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals to turn a 3-1 halftime deficit into a dramatic, 4-3 victory over Yale in New Haven.
He was named the Metro Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, as well as a member of the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week and National Player of the Week.

IN SAFE HAN(SEN)

First-year netminder Alexander Hansen earned Metro Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 15-save week against Providence and Yale.
The 10 stops against the Friars on Monday are tied for the fifth-most by a goalkeeper this season, with it being the second-most by a first-year netminder.
Fellow Metro Conference keeper Bennet Glinder made 12 stops on opening night against NJIT, the most by any goalie in the country.
Hansen's 12 total saves are second-most in the Metro and 13^th nationally, while his 5.67 saves per game are 9^th-best in the country.

THE DA COSTA FILE

Head Coach Eric Da Costa enters year 22 with the Bobcat program, currently sitting with 165 career victories and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
He has made the postseason tournament 12 of the last 14 seasons, including 11 of the last 13 METRO postseasons.
He has an overall record of 166-169-62.

RETURNING PROWESS

William Holum leads the returning scorers for the Bobcats, potting four goals and adding an assist during the 2025 campaign. He made 18 appearances, starting 17 of them.
Other multi-goal scorers returning include Andrew Monteserin (two goals) and Benjamin Telle (two goals).
Fynn Ost returns to lead the Quinnipiac backline where he logged 1165 minutes a season ago, making 14 starts and three more appearances off the bench.

FIFTH IN THE METRO

The 2026 Metro Conference preseason poll placed Quinnipiac fifth in the league rankings ahead of this year's campaign, tied with Marist.
The Bobcats earned 109 points in the poll and will face each of the teams ahead of them in the league season.
