Pustari's Game-Winner Pushes Bobcats to MAAC Semifinals

RIVERDALE, New York - The Quinnipiac men's soccer team advanced to its seventh conference semifinal match in the last 10 seasons after defeating Manhattan, 1-0, on the road in the MAAC Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Gaelic Park.

NOTES

With the win Quinnipiac advances to the MAAC Tournament semifinals Thursday against top-seed and MAAC regular-season champion Fairfield.
Thursday's contest will mark the seventh semifinal appearance in a conference tournament in the last 10 seasons.
Quinnipiac outshot Manhattan 8-4 and in shots-on-goal 4-0.
Quinnipiac's defense did not allow a single shot on goal the entire contest.
The lone goal of the game came off the foot of William Pustari (North Haven, Connecticut) after a free kick late in the 71st minute.
James Doig (Liverpool, England) took the free kick, tapping it to Max Rothenbuecher (Munich, Germany).
Rothenbuecher made a run then sent the ball to Pustari in the box. Pustari chested the ball and drilled it with his right foot in one swift motion to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Pustari's goal was his second of the season.
The assist was the fifth of the season for Rothenbuecher.
Chrysostomos Iakovidis (Thessaloniki, Greece) did not need to record a save to earn his sixth shutout of the season.
The shutout was the 13th of the sophomore's career.
It was the 14th time this season where Iakovidis has held the opponent to one goal or less this season.
It was also the 17th-straight game where Iakovidis has held the opponent to two goals or less.
The win was the 38th of captain James Doig's (Liverpool, England) career, which is the most wins by a player in program-history.
