HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team lost a non-conference matchup to the University of Massachusetts, 2-1, at the Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena in Hamden, Conn. With the loss, Quinnipiac drops to 5-6-1 overall while UMass improves to 6-6-0.

- 11:46, 1st (UMass 1, Quinnipiac 0): Mitchell Chaffee carried the puck off the wall and into the face-off circle to the left of Quinnipiac goalie Andrew Shortridge before it was knocked off his stick. Oliver Chau picked up the loose puck and gave it back to Chaffee in the slot, who tipped it past Shortridge to give UMass a 1-0 lead.
- 1:51, 2nd (UMass 1, Quinnipiac 1): Odeen Tufto ripped a pass through the Minutemen defensive zone to Tanner MacMaster in the opposite face-off circle. MacMaster then found John Furgele at the point for the one-timer through traffic that beat UMass goalie Ryan Wischow to tie the game at 1-1.
- 4:02, 2nd (UMass 2, Quinnipiac 1): Mario Ferraro took a pass from Jake Gaudet on the wall just below the blue line and walked in on Shortridge before wristing a shot off the cross-bar and in. The goal was reviewed, and the ruling on the ice was upheld.
- John Furgele's game-tying goal in the second period was his first of the season, and the first of his Quinnipiac career.
- Odeen Tufto's assist on Furgele's goal was his team-leading 10th of the year, while his 13 points also lead the team. It was also Tufto's ninth point in six non-conference games giving him three goals and six assists on the year.
- Tanner MacMaster's assist was his seventh helper of the season and also gave him 10 points for the year.
