MATCH NOTES
- Neither team had much to play for in the finale. Niagara was locked in as the second seed, and Quinnipiac came in knowing that its postseason bid was secure after yesterday's win over Canisius.
- Quinnipiac utilized its entire active roster in the match. Leading attacker Natalie Alechko only played in two of the four sets, and senior Elizabeth Kloos, who came back yesterday against Canisius after missing six weeks with a broken ankle, didn't dress with the postseason bid locked up.
- Junior Kat Miller had career highs in both digs (21) and service aces (5), while also leading the Bobcats with 11 kills.
- Sophomore libero Alejandra Rodriguez had 17 digs, giving her a combined 33 in the two matches this weekend.
- Quinnipiac took the first set 25-20 behind five kills from Alechko and had a chance to take a 2-0 lead when it pulled ahead 19-16 in the second set. Niagara answered with a 6-0 run to go ahead 22-19 and the Bobcats tied it 23-23 on a kill from freshman Gabby Horman, before the Purple Eagles took the last two points to level the match.
- The third set was tied 14-14, before Niagara went on a 4-0 run and held off Quinnipiac the rest of the way to take a 25-21 win and a 2-1 lead.
- Niagara jumped out to 3-0 and 9-2 leads in the third set and never trailed.
- Quinnipiac advanced to the MAAC Championship match last year as the No. 3 seed, defeating No. 6 Niagara in five sets (16-14 in the fifth) in the first round, and then beating No. 2 Marist 3-1 in the semifinals.
