Rider Snaps QU Men's Soccer's Seven-Game Win Streak

HAMDEN, Conn. - Sophomore forward Rashawn Dally (Bloomfield, Conn.) gave Quinnipiac an early 1-0 lead, but the Rider men's soccer team came back and took a 3-1 decision, ending a seven-match win streak for the Bobcats.
The win moves Rider to 11-3-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play, while Quinnipiac sees its record move to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the MAAC. The Bobcats still have 21 points to 20 for Rider on the season with one league contest left.
Dally put Quinnipiac out in front just under nine minutes into the first period with his third goal of the season. Dally took a pass from senior Ryan Scheiderman (Brick, N.J.) just outside the box and was immediately pressed by a Rider defenseman. Dally spun toward the goal line and muscled his way around his defender before squaring up on the Rider goal and firing a shot to the opposite corner.
In the 15th minute, after a foul was called on a tackle in front of the Bobcats' bench, Rider's Jose Aguinaga played a ball on goal that was stopped by Bobcats' goalkeeper Chrysostomos Iakovidis (Thessolaniki, Greece) but Rob Nardiello found his way to the ball and tied the game at 1-1.
In the 35th minute, Rider was awarded a free kick from the top of the box, before Quinnipiac was whistled for a shirt pull and Aguinaga was awarded a penalty kick which he converted on give the Broncs a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
With less than 10 minutes to play in regulation, Arthur Herpreck gave Rider a two-goal lead after taking a pass from Clement Bourret and converting for his second goal of the year, making the score 3-1.
The Bobcats celebrated their Senior Day as the three members of the Class of 2017 were honored prior to the game. Scheiderman, defender Liam O'Sullivan (Trumbull, Conn.) and goalkeeper Brian Westerman (Rockville Centre, N.Y.).
Rider held a narrow 14-11 edge in shots for the game, while Quinnipiac had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Iakovidis finished with six saves for the Bobcats in the loss.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 when it faces Fairfield in Fairfield, Connecticut at 7 p.m.
